Fuel Sending Unit
« on: March 24, 2024, 05:04:45 PM »
Anyone order and use one of these from EuroMotoElectrics in Denver?  Looks like the only new item available although aftermarket.  Want to be sure it works for K1100RS before ordering.

Seems crazy expensive for a red light indicator.
I just posted how I cut off the whole metal float thing and holder, so now it's just a pass through for the fuel pump wires.
My trip meter works just fine! :-)

I'm thinking about it.....but first I am giving my original 1987 unit the spa treatment in the ultrasonic bath all weekend to see if it can be saved before lashing out that kind of $$$.....

It's been in the ultrasonic cleaner for several hours over the weekend, and now looks like this. Still a work in progress.

The rust dissolver solution I am using is breaking it down, but there is sticky old gas residue in there too, which needs scraping off. However, the electric contacts are now clear of rust and I can confirm there is a good circuit to the low fuel lamps and the fuel pump, which is progress. Before cleaning there were a solid mess of rust and were probably shorting out on each other due to that.

Not finished yet, but happy with what I have achieved so far.
