K1200 engine on k1100
« on: March 31, 2019, 12:06:02 AM »
I have been mulling over fitting (if it can be done with straight forward modification) a k1200RS engine on my 93 k1100LT. The engine seals are starting to go bad (rear main seal is showing leaking currently) and I was going to purchase a whole engine seal/gasket kit from Euro Moto Electronics for ~250 USD to refresh all gaskets and seals in my current k1100 engine. The more I thought about it. Since my 93 currently has 109,000 miles and counting, and I was eventually going to do an engine refresh anyway, a lower mileage k1200 engine would fit the bill here (plus the horsepower increase) since I’d be spending half of the cost already on the gasket kit from EME. So my question is if anyone has expieneece performing this engine upgrade/swap, any details, information or guidance would be great. I have already done the google searches to find such info but nothing detailing the trials and tribulations of the labor involved.
