K1100LT Adjustable Screen Repair, a step too far?
« on: October 21, 2016, 12:59:30 PM »
So, in a fit of enthusiasm I stripped the screen down, cleaned and lubed the rails and tried to free up the motor, which was still sticky.

After much lubrication and little result I undid the two screws to release the actual motor, sliding the bushing out. This allowed me to work on the cogs and they now run smoothly.

Problem is that I cannot put the bloody thing back together.  The bush etc will slip back in but I cannot get it to move the last 3-4mm to slide home and also have no idea how to get the loose metal bits that the screws go into to hold them in place. The magnets keep dragging them into the barrel and I am unsure how to hold two of them in place while closing fully and getting the screws to engage, assuming I get it to close.

So, have I been over enthusiastic and buggered it, or does anyone know how to reassemble?

This Chris Harris video might help

Good luck, be patient, if it came out it can go back in!
