ride the Rockies
« on: July 14, 2021, 05:03:57 AM »
Not a moto trip but I was on 2 wheels! Out mt-biking in Buena Vista and Salida, Colorado and decided to take a few days and ride in Crested Butte. Drove over the Cottonwood Pass and the conditions were near perfect: road, weather and traffic. Made me yearn for the K.
This was a treat as the pass has been closed for several years due to damage caused by avalanche and rock slides. The road is now in excellent shape.
If you're looking for a place to tour, this should be on your list. It is a gorgeous area and not wildly popular with the tourist crowd though there is no shortage of outdoor activities: mt biking, white-water paddling, climbing and hiking.
If you're looking for "passes" to ride there are several in the area, you could bag a few each day!
