Pretty good price for a one off machined piece of kit that will look super cool and really raise the level of the bike

Agreed! I'd be hard pressed to make it for that money. If I wanted to make money anyway.

If you team up with somebody the price drops pretty fast though. If you make two at the same time they cost $50 each, three $35 each and so on.

You can opt to powder coat, anodize, bead blast, etc for a little addition in cost too. I chose 6061 grade aluminium, but they also have steel, brass, titanium... I think even silver or gold if you want.

No, I meant as a machinist, I would likely charge more than that for a one time part. But I don't have a water jet, so I would make that part with wire EDM...which gets $100/hr to run.

I want one!!! Without the center cut out. You should sell them on eBay, I want one bad!

I'd be in for one too (without the cutout) if you want to order one JC. Lmk

No worries. Just glad to help. I only need to know what shape you want it on the top side. Flat like the illustration below to cover the fairing mounts?

Painted mine glossy black, and I couldn't be happier with the result.

That's gorgeous. I'd like one notched like yours...not straight.

Still working on the frame. Needs a little more sanding, but soon ready for paint. Also started making a mold for a fiberglass cowl.

(... and yes, my garage is a complete mess right now)

Made the center hole in the nut a little bigger so I could fit the control button for the motoscope inside rather than on top. Happy with the result so far. I probably should have covered the holes for the forks before painting the trees though..

Fabricated a mount so I can place a cone air filter on the AFM. Paint finish didn't turn out great since I managed to drop it on the dusty floor, but I don't care. Its barely visible when mounted anyway.

Oh that's much better! So, no details on the MAF adaptor fabrication? That looks great. I have an edge roller, but I never tried to put a bead in the end of tubing yet.  :2thumbup:

Not that much to it. Just made a plate in aluminum (I had it cut out at the same time as the triple tree plate) and attached a piece of 60mm tube on it. I was planning on using brazing sticks, but I couldn't get that to work properly so I ended up using a strong epoxy instead. The aluminum didn't look that great after my failed brazing experiment and the epoxy job was kind of messy, that's why I painted it.

Thanks.

If you want to use a 3" cone filter you could probably make one of these fit after some lighter modification:

Making an intake manifold and doing the last touches on the mold for the cowl before glassfiber. I've ordered a custom led strip from Radiantz that is going to go in the groove in the frame.
