New K75 rider in Arlington County, Virginia
« on: September 02, 2019, 06:40:10 PM »
Hello all,

After a decade+ of absence from active motorcycling, I bought a 1995 K75 in Seattle, Washington State this June and rode it home to Northern Virginia.

Back in 1983, after learning to ride on two used Japanese bikes I bought a brand-new BMW R100CS and rode it for five years and 126,000+ miles until I wrecked it (and myself too, a little bit).

On & off afterwards, I owned a (very) used Ural +sidecar while posted to Central Asia and simultaneously, a new Buell Thunderbolt which I rode in Europe and the U.S. until I just... quit riding it a decade ago.

Back to motorcycling now and to BMWs as well.  My late model K75T had always been well garaged and had two prior owners and 6,242 miles when I bought it.  It took me on a 6,331 mile trip across the northern U.S. this Summer without any problems, other than me running out of gas twice.

This is the road coming off Hurricane Ridge, inside the northern entrance to the Olympic National Park.

Welcome to Motobrick.  Impressive photo.  I suspect you can find some impressive scenes to ride in the mountains of Virginia as well.

Welcome aboard! It's beginning to look like the Mid-Atlantic group may hit a critical mass for a rally :)

That would be fun.  In the mean time it may be limited to "ride-to-eat" events.

Also consider our local club, BMW Motorcycle Club of Hampton Roads which has a rally in October.  It's a small event, usually about 60 - 70 participants located at a campground near the Chickahominy River between Williamsburg and Richmond VA.  In addition to Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown are in the local area.  We will have a poker run for our charity, the First Landing K9 Search and Rescue as well as meals Friday and Saturday night.

Thanks for reminding me of the Lenexa get together. There's several Brickster's around DC now, and it'd be fun to convoy down to Williamsburg in October.
