I'm still not quite for chopping up a K1 but your attention to detail is excellent. That gauge cluster is sweet

I'll let the purists attack you for your sacrilege, but have to reiterate what a wonderful job you did with this build -- your creativity and attention to detail is fantastic!  There are so many small details and the big one's really stand out.  Curious, how long did this project take you?

You know, Laitch, just when I think you have slipped from us with that Alzheimer's thingy, you come roaring back........ Lourdes Grobet??  I loved that Acapulco "Royals" song, but I'll bet she's an ugly bitch under that wrestling mask. What's she got to do with K-bike pitchers, anyway?

Very nice install of the gauges.  :2thumbup:

They are by Speedhut, right? I put a pair of those on one of my Moto Guzzis. I used 80mm O-rings on top of the dash to cushion them a little. For future reference, you can get those buttons on the faces as remote buttons instead - just a simple plug on the back and then you can put the buttons wherever you want instead of having them go through the face of the gauges.

Yes, they are from Speedhut, I have not waterproofed them yet, I may try some engine silicon for gaskets, to keep it thin, thanks for your comments!!!

CDRP, you have produced a beautifully detailed bike, and you deserve respect for your achievement.........The creativity and attention to detail is outstanding. No disrespect to your bike or you............but to sacrifice a fine specimen of a K1 which deserved restoration is a lost opportunity, financially and creatively. Any K100 garage bike could have received the benificence of your talent. You surely must be a professional to have accomplished such an excellent build,no?

Well, TrueAce, about your comment, I agree and not agree, a standard K100 will be that, standard, or a wannabe, a K1... well it is a K1, (very controversial K1), and yes, sometimes I question myself about what if?.... But past is past, .... I am not a professional builder, It's more passion than anything, and the bike came to me by accident, I tough a lot about restoring it, but again, the urge of creation and modifying won overall, I appreciate all your comments, in favor or against!!!

I respect your decision, and applaud your willingness to respond in a straight-forward manner to all comments, and admire the skill your build reflects. Congratulations on your very professional presentation of the BMW K1.

Fantastic build and individual expression of a clean cafe. I have no problem with using the K1, it was not the last one on earth, your bike, your vision , your rules. Enjoy the hell out of it.

Great improvement over the fugly BMW K1 original.
BMW designers Hans Muth, ex-chief of styling for BMW got it right with the early 1980's Suzuki Katanas, but BMW failed horribly with the K1 body work.
When people use the word " hate " to describe something, it sings loudly.
They should have kept Hans on.....

I love the original K1.  I am purist.
I also LOVE and respect your K1 cafe.  I am envious and want one.
Please contact me when you want to sell it, OR if you would do a similar build for me, SERIOUSLY!

Amazing job sir! Can we get a close up pic of the gas cap? I also love your radiator overflow tank. If you want a replacement for the chunky stock footpeg, Rizoma adapter and footpeg should fit the stock K1 bracket. It looks like the same dimensions as the K75/100. That's what I have on my K75.

Reopropf, regarding selling my bike, not now, but I will let you know if the time comes, regarding a build, I am kind of complicated right now but may be next year?
Duckytran, regarding the foot-pegs, the K1 came with the foot-pegs further up and back, different than any the other "K", a more sport approach, so I decided to CNC machine the original foot-pegs, (holes and removing the passenger foot-pegs) so the bike kept the original ADN as much as possible,

Many Thanks for you comments!!!
