It was a great ride, made even better with the outstanding direction from Tim Tyler. For 16 years I've lived within 1 1/2 hours of Mt. Rainier, yesterday was the first time visiting the park. Beautiful views, horrible roads; I nearly lost my teeth on the pool sized potholes.
The ride with Tim was a "shakedown cruise" for my recently overhauled 1985 K100RS, and she did well, except for an apparent leak from the speed sensor; I suspect the O-ring.
Over the winter I did the following;
rebuilt front and rear master cylinders, replaced left/right perches, throttle and clutch cables, replaced all hoses, dropped the entire oil pan, cleaned it, soda blasted years of neglected funk, and thoroughly cleaned oil pick up, rebuilt the throttle bodies, replaced the rubber on top and bottom of the TBs, cleaned and lubed the spline, and FD. Finally, replaced the Luftmeister exhaust, installed by PO with an OEM exhaust, polished the exhaust ports.
Photos reveal a '93 K1100RS fairing. My bike affectionately known as Fräulein Beemer, was Alaskablau. I re-sprayed the tank and rear fairing and mirrors to match the acquired front fairing and belly pan. 66AutoColor provided the color code matched paint, 2K primer and clear, highly recommended.
Time to ride now!
