Gudday there, Johnno here, just joined the forum from New Zealand.

I have a 1999 BMW K75 RT Ultima, as shown! (This pic is from when I brought her a year + ago, she's a bit more worn now!)

Here's my purple 1995 K1100LT. Bought it a short year ago at 73k and now she's at 77k. New Avon RoadRider tiors. Love them. Parking lot dropped both sides (once by mech -- fired -- and twice by me). Outdoor parking so I'll leave her pocked until I do a restore. I think I might have found my bike-for-life. May want a GS some day but only in addition and never in lieu (an '89 R100 G/S). She's perfect, awesome, strong, reliable, torquey, and she has a bloody fan! A bike with a cooling fan (astounded)

If I had to guess I would say that your front tire is installed backwards. I'm betting with grooves like that there is a direction of rotation arrow on the sidewall somewhere.

So my mechanic not only installed it backwards but also didn't tell me about a major rim dent?

Did the recon. The Avons are built that way. The tread is properly installed. Following the rotation arrows. Odd. The rear is in the other direction.

This is an older photo. That ding was there before, right? Same bend and not a new one, right?

the direction arrow will be molded into the sidewall near the bead... you can look for it there to see if its on right... i blew up your photo and can see the arrow...

as for the wheel... a young tior tech at the now defunct bmw dealer in portland orogoon bent the bead area on one of my wheels very similar to that... soft wheels + inattentive young know it all + hydraulic tior machine is all it takes...

I looked at it too. There are arrows both ways. One says "if used as rear, thus way" and "if used as front, this way" so it's on right. I believe the kink was there when I bought it. I'll talk to Khahn here at EUBMW next week. The direction is correct. I really want to move back to Portland.

I use Avon Roadriders front and rear - this is a correctly fitted front tyre and it looks the same as yours so it's all ok.

I've had the Avon front tire since I bought the bike and I've only had the back Avon tyre put on in the last month but I've ridden in various weather conditions and I've had no issues so far. Yeah I'm happy enough with them.
