92 K75 RT project .
« on: July 22, 2023, 11:28:19 AM »

Picked this up yesterday
Has all the parts (even the handbook) except tank internals.
New battery.
Rear brake master inoperable and crusty. front works, Made it much safer to get it off the trailer .
Tires almost 20 years old (but plenty of tread left, haha)
14,000 miles?
For starters I’m going to need fuel pump and filter, fuel float, and brake master kit or Chinese replacement.
My brother in LA picked up a Corbin for me for $50
Ordered one of these

And this

If and when I get it started I’ll see about tires and brake lines .

Looking forward to having a brick again.

I can’t believe I got “such a deal”. Almost ashamed that I paid less than a set of tires for this moto and  I know that the purchase is only the beginning, but …….

I hope not.  My wife refuses to park her car outside the garage in the winter.

Parking cars in the garage in the winter introduces plenty of unwanted moisture into the enclosed environment and this can and WILL cause everything to rust - you don’t want your garden scissors rusty, do you?

Was the route I went. 8 bikes in two garages, two cars in one garden. For me that is the way to go ;)

Is this the Chinese one that can be modified to fit?
That listing dedicates the cylinder to Yamahas. For practical purposes, cylinders with hanger holes that have leeway for positioning are more desirable, as comparatively illustrated below. Also, there's a monumental thread dedicated to supporting commerce and installation of brake cylinders from the PRC. It's this one, where Young Engineer, Gryphon Almighty and Martin, among others, discuss the joys and pitfalls of desire.

Was able to get brake fluid resistant hose at a local shop. Got it bolted up. . Still waiting on fuel sender. Where does the other end of the spring go. I see the one on the pedal.

It goes onto the pin that the two stand springs hook onto.

thanks. Got it bled and now I have a back brake. The fuel sending unit from China is supposed to arrive today so maybe I’ll have it running by the end of the week if the order from EME comes in.

Getting closer. Got my expensive wires soldered up to the cheap modified sender. I don’t remember which side of the pump is positive., the big or little? And at the connector, which 2 of the 4 wires do I need. Looking at the Clymer book it appears brn is  - and yellow is +. . , but whenI switch the bike on, I get no love out of the yellow, ( or green or wh) ? Sidestand up, neutral light green, I thought the pump was supposed to energize. I haven’t put the pump in. The tank yet, trying to get the wiring figured first. Am I missing something?

Smaller diameter fuel pump terminal is positive.

Fuel pump only runs when engine in turning - as in starting or running.

Not quite. Tried to start until the battery wore down but no fire. Pull the hose off where it comes out of the fuel filter and plenty of gas coming out. I don’t think I’ve got the fuel line switched. I’m not getting any fuel out of the return line.

Is that in the tank or at the rail?

Rail, The line into tank is clear. I couldn’t get the line off where it enters the rail yet without further fairing removal. So I have fuel coming out of fuel filter, but not making it to the rail, fuel pressure regulator ca-put? Any other suspects? I guess I need to take the tank off again and investigate. What should I look for?
