K bike tail lighting is rather wimpy. Here's an easy inexpensive way to upgrade it by adding waterproof LED marker lights to the sides of the tail light lens. Here's the end result:
What You'll Need- Two of
these.
- About 6" of double-sided tape that you can find at your local auto parts store. 3M product # 3615 Molding Tape is what I use.
.
- Hacksaw, Dremel or grinder
- Some rubbing alcohol
Step 1: Using a Dremel cutting wheel, hacksaw or whatever, trim the plastic off of the ends of the LED marker light until it is small enough to fit inside the outside areas of the tail light. The one pictured is identical to the one above except that the plastic is clear.
Step 2: Use some rubbing alcohol to clean out the inside of the side of the tail light lens so that the mounting surface for the double-sided tape is clean.
Step 3: Tape the LED marker lights into the sides of the tail light lens with the front/top of them flush to the tail light lens.
Step 4: Tap the white wires from the LEDs into the ground (brown) wire and the red wires into the tail light power wire (gray/black.)
