our last weekend in socal is april 16 n 17... saturday the 16th is our last day to motobrick the socal mountains... so here it goes...
meet at "C" the s w corner of osborne n foothill by the restaurant k s u 8am... its the osborne exit off the 210... there is no restroom or fuel here... so take care of business n show up with enough fuel to make it to ""D" which is our 1st fuel n booocheeee stop...
so we are gonna roll the little tuna and stop at te mobile station by the 14.... then roll to the angeles forest highway and roll the upper big tuna... roll to angeles crest to
newcombs ranch
for a stretch break... reverse route n roll the crest n mountain back to the big tuna back to the 210... gonna have to slabb the 210 to azusa... stretch break n fuel at the azusa chevron... then roll up to crystal lake with lunch at the trading post...
then reverse route down to east fork... roll east fork to glendora ridge... roll down the mountain n reverse route n roll up the mountain... roll glendora crest to baldy village... then either roll down the hill n split at the 210 or make another run at glendora down to te 210...
crystal lake...
back in the day...
way backer in the day...
ok... here it goes... what a day... beautiful weather... then we blasted the little tuna with absolutely no traffic.. im talking with us or against us... we didnt encounter a sloe moe cage till almost newcombs ranch... this ride was gonna be one of those canyon carving day loops top go down as simply wow... wow... wow...
rolling the little tuna from osborne... viffergryl... m.brane... flying duck...
soledad canyon rd...
the flying duck on the super smooth k1...
angeles forrest highway...
upper big tuna canyon rd...
the angeles crest highway...
we didnt go past newcombs ranch cause there were lotts o cinders still on the road up there...
so we blasted the crest to the forrest to the big tuna...
then without notice... as we were late apexing a left... just like walt n nancy and the streetmasters folks teach... and it was a beauty too... i could see it for a 1/4 mile n could see through it for a 1/2 mile... all he11 broke loose...
my u joint broke and my rear wheel was locking up... we got it off the road n on the dirt before it went to full on locked...
j o returns on flying ducks k1 after calling or a flatbed...
then the wait... progressive roadside assistance said 1 hour... but the driver couldnt find us... so wit viffergryl down in sunland with a cell signal... she relentlessly raised he11 and got us a flat bed... it was a long wait... but we gott the motobrick loaded n hauled to anaheim...
sunday... under the skilled eye of the worlds foremost motobrick bike breaker...
the flying duck...
we got the shaft out so we could roll the bugeye motobrick..
pile of needle bearings...
the back shaft is good...
the front shaft is a different story...
got 2 hotel guests to help push it up the ramp...
gonna score a 30k full unit from
special k larry
later this week n should have the bugeye motobrick carving canyons sometime saturday...
thats all...
ok ok ok... the motobrick garage...
big boy 2 ramps...
going down...
timing it...
pb blaster n honda moly60 n locktite n gear oil...
special k larry
suggested sliding shaft onto the splines with the swing arm on... he is way more skilled than me... his skilled hands can do it... but not this motoheap parking lot mechanic...
i had to remove the swing arm n slide it over the shaft...
all back together...
all done in 2 1/2 hours... just gotta clean up...
and roll it off...
test ride around parking lot... 100% yeeeeeehaaaaaaa...
