Have you tried using a 3' length of braided garden hose and some fishnet stockings? Didn't work on a 75 but yours is an 1100.

As Cruz said to Trump," just calm down", Laitch. Clearly your problem is you haven't greased the spokes. Take a generous amount of KY jelly and liberally stroke each spoke. That should get you off and running.

Warm enough in Wisconsin that i rode the T-Dub to work... Also helped that the transmission in my Ranger died last Sunday.

Time to put the battery back in my K75 I say, but I'm worried I should examine my clutch and do a spline lube. 25K miles, did drive shaft last year, clutch splines never been lubed AFAIK. Also wanna check my clutch plate out too since I cant quite adjust the cable tension right... Wish like heck I had a garage to work in!

Still in the research phase though.

Laitch - maybe your problem is that the oil is not getting up high enough in the engine. Try putting a gallon of water in the crankcase so the oil will float up higher.

If that doesn't work, consult this handy diagnostic flowchart:

Use lard, an inch ain't nothin'. Bet the installer (you?) doesn't know how to fit the tire with the brake caliper in the way.

I tried to get the special K-model shoehorn through a local BMW Dealership, but they said that they'd discontinued that entire tool line. Does anybody know of a good substitute?

I didn't add any stabilizer to my tire air this year, so if I can't get this sorted out I'm going to be stuck with the cost of having my rims professionally flushed out!

Wow....I go off-line for a while and look what I missed!! You guys have gone wild!! My brick does start so I will beg off this conversation. I do, however, find it helps if you push the little button after you turn the key and make sure the kill switch is vertical. Just put 20 some odd miles on Heinzy on a beautiful but rather chilly day here in Southern Ontario. None of us (me and my 2 bikes) have been off the road more than 10 days this year....braggin' a little.
The other thing I missed (and this'll make you guys crazy!!) is the purchase of a running 1985 K100RS just east of Toronto...with recent rubber and a new battery, 62,000 miles on the clock (and it looked to be in very good nick-from the photos)....for $1300 Canadian loonies!!! Yikes. I warned his wife that he had under-priced this baby but, lo and behold, some sharpy was coming by that night to snap it up. So keep your eyes peeled....there are deals to be had out there. Did any of the Toronto boys snag that bike??(he asked somewhat jealously).

While you guys are playing , could you direct me to the specs for k1100 bikes? I saw it, clicked, and it took me somewheres else. Or I closed the window of opportunity. Im thinking of repairing my rear brake line properly, and may want to remove abs at the same time.

opinions and ideas appreciated. I will be riding this bike on country roads fairly often, because thats the type we have around here. I have read that iI might lose brakes going down bumpy roads, due to ABS.
