Laitch the strapping  of the centre stand to the wheel is I presume to stop the stand folding up while you drag it into position.
That's right. The bike can be rotated 360º after it's been pulled back from the clamps so I can amaze onlookers with my dexterity. Pulled back far enough from the clamps the forks can be removed.

I fasten an additional strap on each side also, when I'm actually working on on the bike.

Truly amazing  I think motorcyclist are more creative than car drivers. I am posting pictures of how to lift the front end if you don't have a jack, and your stuck on the side of the road. You can substitute milled timber for branches or what ever is on hand. Ratchet straps can be substituted for cam straps or even rope.  Chock up the front wheel first, then ratchet strap on both sides ( it might work with one side but I have not tried it ).Then remove chock, if you need more clearance out in the bush place the front wheel over soft soil and dig a hole.I use the posted method when I don't want to remove my belly pan.

Bushes and other bits arrived from Motorworks yesterday, so will replace them today, and assemble the belly pan minus the mesh. Will probably go back to the deck tape for the parts where it will mould itself to the curves. But I'm still not sure about the other bits.

I replaced the bushes on the centre stand and reassembled the belly pan. I have decided to go with Rust-Oleum truck bed liner in a spray can on the underneath of the pan and front lip. The front half of the belly pan around the mesh I am going to try Rust-Oleums version of clear Plasti dip. Masked it up and wiped it down with wax and grease remover. I had a couple of practice runs on a bit of aluminium sheet you need to be at least 12" away and do really quick passes. I did four coats allowing 30 min between coats, it went on well and didn't look out of place. Left it for about 2 hours and then started to remove the masking tape, I then encountered a problem as I removed the tape, it lifted the edge of bed liner on the pan. I stopped and retaped the edge where it lifted and attempted to respray the lifted edge. It now has a lumpy edge seam which I won't attempt to fix until it is fully dried in 48 hours. My dilemma is to now try and remove the masking tape without lifting the edge of the bedliner, I am hoping that when it has dried it will be easier. :dunno

Marshall it has come in handy, but only works if you have a centre stand, and they seem to be disappearing. Must be painful trying to do chain maintenance without one. Lucky we don't have to worry about either.

Chased around, and after a lot of chasing I got some surgical blades, a lot sharper than craft knife blades. Using 3.5 magnifying glasses I cut along the edge of the paint and the tape and removed all the masking tape. I decided not to go with the Rustoleum clear as it's recommended that it be replaced every 3 months. I looked at vinyl wrapping $60.00  for the material and try to do it myself, if it was cheaper I would probably give it a go. I thought about the deck tape again but it won't do compound curves. So in the end I decided to spray the area around the grille with the Rustoleum bed liner. In between coats I adjusted the CO with my Gunson gas analyzer, works well and wasn't that dear. Need to wait 48 Hrs before I can replace the belly pan.

Fitted the newly painted and bed linered belly pan. I am happy with the way it looks and the ease of application. The only problem I encountered was removing the masking tape. It didn't seem to matter how long you left it to dry a surgical blade was required to get a clean edge. I did experiment and if you removed the tape after about 5 min you could get a clean edge, but this was not practical when multiple coats were required.

Nice job, Martin!  Next time, put three layers of masking tape on all your edges.  Immediately after each coat pull one of the layers of tape to break the edge before the bedliner cures over the edge of the tape.

Thanks Gryph, good idea with the tape, but it was easy once I managed to run a surgical blade along the edge, used in conjunction with 3.5 magnifying glasses. Next time will probably go the multi tape way.
