Title: For sale at Bob's BMW
Post by: mw074 on November 19, 2018, 09:17:05 PM
I saw this for sale at Bob's BMW. I am about to list a similar K bike for sale but with much less mileage ( 80K. ) If that is what they are selling for, I will just keep it and use the parts as a boat anchor. Enclosed is a link to Bob's and a pic of my K1100LT. I know that the retail on these bikes is going down { which is a good thing ) but DAHM.

They do stress that it is a project bike, pretty unique one at that.  Seems like the gas tank might be worth the asking price.

The gas tank is worth the asking price. I had Ray Randolph make a few for me, He was truly an artist at making tanks. That was when I was young and the objective was piling on the miles. RIP Ray.

". . . so if nothing else there's a fine, costly and complete set of Graphite Metallic body panels in very good shape being offered up, especially considering we've classified it as a PROJECT BIKE."

Body panels and a large-capacity tank. What more could anybody want? You'll build core strength and balance moving that moto around the garage and lifting it off the floor or pavement after moments of distraction. No more useless gym memberships.

I grew up in the same community where Ray Randolph lived.  We attended the same school although he was ahead of me by a few years.  The Randolph boys were quite the make things work type guys.

His younger brother Rodney was a friend of my older brothers.  He used to come by our house in a 59 Ford Fairlane complete with OOgah horn but the amazing thing about the car was it had a modified three on the tree.  Rodney had moved the gear shift lever over to the opposite side of the steering column where the signal lever would normally be.  His reasoning was he could drive, shift, and keep his arm around his girlfriend without abandoning the arm around the girlfriend.  As I look back Ray might have had some input on that conversion.

Just another Randolph tale for the record.
