Title: Substitute for Three Bond 1207B
Post by: conybeare on February 08, 2012, 07:58:59 PM
Hi All,

From looking through some threads on BMWMOA, it looks like some people use Permatex Ultra Grey on the water/oil pump whereas others use Yamabond or Hondabond (in lieu of the recommended Three Bond 1207b).

Just out of curiosity, what have you all used on the water/oil pump?

Loctite ® 587™ Blue Maxx Silicone is my choice for many jointing seals.

I've  been using anaerobic gasket maker/flange sealant. Got tipped off on it by Dave Gardner for use on cylinder base gaskets for airheads.

Cures hard, comes off easy, seals well, dissolves in oil (when it is soft) and only cures when compressed into an anaerobic environment. Nice and sticky as well.
