BLUE 1990 k75S 41k
« on: May 05, 2024, 01:45:20 PM »
Ok gentlemen,
New baby...
The good; The purchase came with bags, taller shield, decent Corbin seat, beautiful belly pan !!!, Shifts cleanly....came with new BMW clutch kit, Cable, and assorted goodies!
The bad; Gear display out, clock out, Brakes squeeeek...odometer reset thumb dial missing...Black painted surfaces worn...
The plan; Lube the output shaft spline....while I'm there change clutch&cable, change all fluids, thermostat, rear tire..& possibly brake, radiator and fuel lines (as needed)...Paint all the black metal stuff, armor all all plastics. LED bulbs for speedo ( if it aint broke?) Anybody have success repairing tires side stand ?
TIA

Looks like an off brand. The baffle blocks my view. Check out the gao between seat and tank

The Laminar Lip was designed to redirect airflow over windscreens to reduce wind-buffeting of the rider. Mounting it as low as in your introductory photo seems pointless. The Lip was a popular product but the company eventually closed up shop. The attached photo shows how it is frequently mounted. Some riders place it higher than in the example. See other examples in Google Images. You could remount it higher if it wouldn't bother your vision.

The forward section of your seat pan could be heated judiciously with a hair dryer and then pushed forward to close that gap.

I think that the K75S Laminar Lip is pretty worthless. I have one on a K75C that seems to work better.

Thanks gentlemen. The screen seems to be a nice height. I’ll remove the appendage. That seat is a brain scratcher….Corbin KDT86. I don’t know if that is the correct size or was modified to fit.

It's probably the original Corbin pan. You aren't the first to encounter that seat/tank gap with either a Corbin or an OEM seat. It's modifiable.

How would I modify the seat? Or can I fill the gap with something…I do have another seat in storage from a K100 LT. There is a Corbin seat MFG company here in St Augustine.

The size of that windshield is concerning, I've had smaller shields pull out of the mounts at speed with wind pressure.  (memories of my Parabellem bouncing off my helmet and watching it in my mirror get crushed by a semi) I think there was a reinforcement kit but was still pretty sketchy.

There is a 1” rubber washer / grommet on the upper screw holes that position it even FURTHER vertical. Those 4 tiny screws and their  plastic inserts are the only thing keeping her on. Thanks for the warning…
