The gas cap is the original, brushed, some screws and a seat post quick release from a bicycle instead of a key,

Your creation is very original indeed. I'm curious as to how it's latch on inside with the bicycle seat post thingy.

That exceeds clever! You are not a garage hobby builder! When you first introduced us to your build, I was shocked at using a K-1. Your response then and since has shown that you are a class act, and so is your build. Now tell us how to give you the most sincere flattery........imitation! I have been playing with keyless cap ideas for my K-Badness, now I want to copy! :2thumbup:

Thanks for your comments, I really enjoy this stuff, to install the quick release, It is easy, take the key drum, remove the metal slots for the key, drill a hole, tap the hole to the thread size of the quick release, glue it with epoxy, assembly, you are done, you can buy the quick release from eBay from 3 dollars, many colors.... Just get the right pressure so when you open it you can turn the QR to opinion the cap like you do with the key,.... And again thanks for your comments!!!! You make me feel like a pro!!!!

That's brilliant, conceptualizing that would work in the first place. Very clever. I'm gonna try that on my gas cap. Thanks for sharing.

I did a cap before with an aluminum knob, eliminates the need for a screwdriver. The key top is cut done and deployed into the knob. What I'd really like is a aluminum quick release gas cap, like old British style, but I have never found on the diameter of a K tank opening. Let's have a "Innovative Gas Cap"  review of everybody's innovations. :euro

Cdrp, this is my first posting, I've been looking at a lot builds to get ideas for my K project and this has fired my inspiration 10 fold. Attention to detail does it for me. I'll  look for a K1 :yow only joking lads, but I would if I found a rough one. Thanks for this inspirational post. Regards Jez.

Hi

I am busy doing the "opposite" you did, I am taking a bike back to red and yellow after if had a full respray to blue done 21 years ago.

http://www.motobrick.com/index.php?topic=8958.msg71560#msg71560

Do you have any photo's of the inside of the main fairing, trying to figure out if it should be red or black?

Assume you have none of the parts left of this bike?

Hi, 2beAlive the inside of the faring is black, but I don't know if it was original like that, I almost positive of that, and yes, I have the complete set if you are interested,

Hi
Great build

What did you do to strip the filler cap. Did you use paint stripper or hit it with a wire brush or something?

Hi, I use paint stripper and after I use a 3M polishing fiver, not sandpaper, it gives a smother finish,

Kind Regards,
