Hi there!
« on: April 28, 2024, 12:26:12 PM »
I’m Jonathan (@jhullmoto) long time custom builder but only my second BMW. This forum has been a fantastic resource & I use it a lot but I thought I should join up as I have some specific questions I can’t find answers to.  It’s almost always electrical!

Welcome.  If you happen to be doing an M-unit on yours, and its 4-valve, I posted a wiring diagram or the M-unit to a k1100 in the wiring diagrams channel.

Have fun on your build, and expect EVERY SINGLE MEASUREMENT to be proprietary to these bikes.  You are in for a bit of trial and error, modifying of aftermarket parts, and custom fabrication.

Thank you. Yes, as I said, this is my second K. The last was a 1989 K100RS. That was a full motogadget rig too and I know exactly what you mean.

I’ve attached a picture of last years build. I build to commission so I often don’t have the luxury of time. The current has run over its build slot so I need to get it out the shop as soon as possible. The client is very understanding though.

Nice to be introduced mate. Thanks.

Haha, as I was replying to stuff, I didnt realize at the time it was the same person over and over.  Hope you are able to resolve your issue quickly.  If there is anything you want me to test on my bike since the electric system is pretty close to what you are dealing with, I can.  Like if you want me to try starting w any of the various sensors disconnected to see if that might help narrow down your issue.  Just LMK and I can try to test it at lunch tomorrow.
