Rock of Ages
« on: September 16, 2015, 09:55:10 PM »
So I went for a ride on Friday, after 24 days on fire duty, through the month of August and beyond, (ok not 24 days in a row).  Buddy and I rode to coast and back, the long way.  Nice warm day, 66 to 75 on coast, sun warming our backs, then shadows in the trees, all around nice day.  Well at least it was till...

So it is not on a K bike, but I saw were many a RT picture was posted by Johnny, so figure it is fair game.  $1600+ later I might get it fixed!!  Moral of the story, watch out for those rocks in the road, as they surprise you.

Is that a BMW rim? If so, a little time with a mallet and a block of wood should have the worst of it out.  BMW rims are pretty soft which means they ding easily, but on the other hand respond well to efforts to get them back in shape.  Just take your time and don't try to get it with one or two whacks.

Yes it is a BMW rim, but Insurance covered the new wheel.  I thought about banging it out, but the thought of a blow out at 85 in Idaho was more than I wanted, even if it was fixed!  And I think there is a company that will do that for you.
