Is it advised to order OEM or are the ones from Beamer boneyard fine?  Also, does anyone know of a distributor in the US that sells the upgraded and trapezoidal ones vs the angular ones?

I got 87,000 miles out of mine. They looked like OEM but they also looked like Beemer Boneyard's.  I might have bought the fancy-looking ones from EU or UK but I won't be able to admire them after they're installed so it seemed pointless; besides, 87K mi. seems like a fair return for a set of parts in the $20 price range. Beemer's are cheaper but you need to buy something else to rack up a $20 total before they ship. I bought EME's because I know they ship quickly and they came with a used drive clutch cup and a used driving dog for a considerably cheaper price than new. It was a one-off package. I ordered them before I pulled the alternator from the Brick so I didn't know which I needed but from the hellacious sound I knew I need at least one of them. It all worked out nicely.

Apply a light film of silicone grease to them at installation so they'll all hold position and slip into engagement with the driving dog. Spit is the traditional lubricant and will likely work successfully, as it has with other sliding assemblies throughout the ages.  :laughing4-giggles:
