Bar risers
« on: July 22, 2023, 12:28:54 PM »
Are these OE handle bar "risers" or just bottom clamps from some other beemer?

If they are actual risers and I wanted to use them, don't I have to move the dash pad and ignition switch up too?

I have a set of Rox Speed that I used on another bike in the past but, they're a little more substantial.  I buried them in the garage because when I looked briefly, it occurred to me I would have the same problem with the dash pad.

Those look like top clamps that hold the handlebars down. #7

Yes, on K bikes you need barbacks with a tapped hole in the front to bring the dash pad back with the bars.

On a K11 the ignition doesn't move so it will be in front of the dash pad.

I just got a "new to me" 1996 K1100. I has over 109K miles. The rubber vibration damper "grommets" in the upper triple clamp (item 4 shown in the diagram above) are perished and there is a lot of wobble fore and aft in the handlebars. Does anyone know if these parts are available? I've searched Ebay and I cannot get them to come up.

Thanks in advance!

On a K1100LT the diagram is:

Item 5 is what stabilizes the handlebars in the upper fork tree.

Do the handlebars actually wobble or are they just mushy? K1100 handlebars were a bit mushy from the factory.

Many of us do this to firm them up:

Item 5 is available new from BMW for $45 each. A&S has free shipping:

I think I have some decent used ones if you're interested.
