k 100 paralever central
« on: September 04, 2022, 03:14:44 PM »
Hello everyone.

I was on this website years ago. Now I take it back to share my project

I have tried to find some information from k100 87 to central shock absorber paralever (R 1150 R, R 1100 S or similar) for a project that I am going to start. I had already changed the subframe but a change in the regulation in Spain allows me to weld on the chassis and I have thought of a central monoshock.
I have limitation with the search by language. So I appreciate help.

I've followed Boxerman's awesome thread, and others with excellent information. I will be putting the details of the evolution in case I can contribute something.

Exactly!!!.

  Thanks.

Do you have any more information?  Is there a post that I have not located?

I understand from your signature that it is a k1200LT.

Now it would be to see if it is feasible to attach to a k 100 87.

Greetings

I drive a K1100LT and to my knowledge its the same gearbox (case) as a K100.
Paralever is from a R1100S, the drive shaft is from a R1100R with the stock K1100LT reardrive.

There a some small thing that need to be grinded away but nothing to serious. Even the pivotbolts are a perfect fit (with or without a small spacer, Ive driven it with both).

Edit; there is no post from my bike and powerbrick on insta can also be an inspiration for you.

Thank you very much.  Really.
This forum is impressive.

I'm going to see motobricks on instagram.

FYI: There is a difference between the transmission of an 87 RS and a K1100.

The K1100 has holes for mounting the front of the paralever strut under the swing arm:

Also, K transmission input splines were hardened for 1990 and later bikes.

The internal gearing is the same though.

Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

Thanks.

Yes.  One thing I am going to look at is the transmission ratio.

I know my gearbox does not have the Tie Rod Support.
Also that with the transmission of the K 1100 I lengthen the development of change.
But above all I want to measure that the line of the wheels does not go too far.

With the Configuration that I have now, the 5" wheel is offset 4 mm to the left.
One solution that I have thought of is to mill the motor mounts to move the entire block to the right.

For me, the challenge of having it perfectly aligned is important. Although BMW says that a deviation of up to 10 mm is correct, I think I remember

Well, here is part of my research. I have made a table with the data of the models that can be used.

The order that I have followed in my preference is:

- to be able to mount 180 on a 5.5" rim
-Prolong the final development since the K 100 87 is "too short" and you go very revolutionized at low speed.

So my choice is in green in the table that I have made and that I share for those who can take advantage of it.
The data that does not appear in the table is because they were not necessary for this modification of the rear axle.

and the winner is:
-Gearbox K 1100 LT/RS. obvious for tie rod support.
- Group R 1100 S. Possibility of mounting 180 and mounting modern caliper.
- And cardan shaft casing from K 100 RS or K1. In the table you will see that the total length of the R 1100 S assembly is 520 mm. From swingarm to wheel center vs. 481 on the K 100 RS or 485 on the K 1200 Rs. This is an impressive 4 cms.

Now it only remains to see the subject of the splines of the cardan shaft of one or another model.

That is already a second investigation. Although I'm sure some of you are already sure.

I hope I have taken into account all the details

Cheers
