Control Rocker Switches (3 switches vs. 4 switches)
« on: June 10, 2022, 07:10:14 PM »
I've seen some photos of both controls with 3 rocker switches and 4 rocker switches. Wondering what the differences are with models?

I am looking at a 1994 yellow 75s that has the 4 switches. Can anyone confirm the true Dakar yellow 72s' had the 3 or 4 switch panels?

Photo attached for reference of the switches I am talking about.

That's a picture of my bikes dash. Originally it had one functioning switch the hazard warning. I added a light bar switch and a fan over ride switch.
The self adhesive symbols were acquired from Jaycar and had clear lacquer applied over the top to preserve them. Which has worked so far. A mates 91 75s has three switches Hazard, ABS and heated grips. The symbols are removable and could be bought separately. A driving light symbol was available and possibly a horn symbol for switching between country and city.

Originally mine only had one switch and two blanks. I've only ever seen three on a k75s but seeing as there are at least 4 switches available it may have been an option. Somebody may come up with the answer.

Martin's switches are upside down! Personal preference I guess as it really doesn't matter which way the switches mount.

Yes, the K75S factory dash pad only has three switch holes.

The square dash pads used on the other K75 models have four switch holes. It can be swapped in on a K75S easy-peasy. They mount to the same holes on the upper triple tree.

There are two models of the square dash pad - one with a power socket and one without.  I prefer with socket since I use it to run 12V power to my tank bags for USB charging and other stuff. It also makes battery tender charging easier since I use Powerlet plugs on my battery tenders.

Somebody else's found with a google search:

Since there are limited switch holes one thing I do is use a three position switch to serve two functions. For example, on several of my Ks I have one switch serve as both a hazard switch and an ABS switch. The down position is for the hazard flashers and the up position is ABS.

A new square dash pad can be had from a BMW dealer for the low, low price of only $283.  :johnny

I have since conformed and rotated my switches, at least it was a minor sin. I could have gone down the café path.

Just kneel and say twelve "Hail BMW"s for forgiveness. :laughing4-giggles:

Another minor dash pad point.

K75S/K100RS bikes also have two dash pads - early (32711453157) and late (32712308032)

Like condoms, the later ones are ribbed at the ends for enhanced enjoyment.

Early:
