Low fuel light
« on: December 13, 2018, 03:41:26 AM »
G'day gents,

I've replaced the original speedo on my 1995 K75 with aftermarket one, but would like to keep the low fuel light. Can I simply connect it like other lights (battery charge, choke etc.), which is + to connected power and - to pin 7 of dashboard connector? Or there is some logic for this light in the original dashboard?

Cheers

Which model of aftermarket gauge are you installing? Midway through this post is an explanation of one way to adapt OEM fuel level senders for aftermarket gauges.

If all you want is for an indicator on the gauge to illuminate when the fuel level is low, then you can connect the White wire (Pin 7) to the appropriate wire on your gauge.  Make sure the indicator LED is active LOW, meaning it will light if the wire on the gauge is pulled to ground.

Yep, I want just the low fuel indicator and that answers my question. Thanks!

So I've connected LED to pin 7 and all is good, however if the tank is not full it flashes whenever fuel moves around (e.g. on dips, sudden deceleration etc). The flashes are like 0.5s or less. Any easy way to solve this? Maybe a capacitor?
