Reminds me of the Kawasaki factory shop manual for my 1968 F3 Bushwacker. In the chapter on preparation for competition was this nugget of advice regarding the chain: "caulk the chain continuously in advance of loss"
I must admit whoever did the translation did an infinitely better job than I would have done.
