Title: Group ride 4-15-18
Post by: Filmcamera on April 15, 2018, 04:21:58 PM
Today I did my first group ride in Costa rica.

Seven of us set out from San Jose to do a big loop though the mountains and back.  Sadly about an hour in one guy got knocked off his bike by a cager doing a U-turn without looking.

Luckily he was ok and the bike was still rideable - just, the shifter foot lever broke so shifting was tough but still possible.  We had to wait an hour and a half for the cops to show before we could carry on so it somewhat curtailed the ride.

There was quite a collection of bikes.  A HD Road Glide, a Goldwing, a Ducati monster, a Ducati Multistrada (that was the the one that wrecked), a Honda NC750X, A Moto Guzzi V7 Stone and my Brick.

My bike got lots of admiration and people were surprised how old it was it, also acquitted itself well on the road, easily keeping up with the others.

Were the front brakes behaving?

Sadly no, pulsing badly.  Last week I got all the bits needed to do the rear main seal which is leaking so when I do that I also plan to take the entire front end off and reinstall it very carefully to see if that fixes the problem.  I will also check the discs runout at the same time.
