1992 75rt windshield wing bracket replacement
« on: February 17, 2024, 05:49:46 AM »
On my 1992 k75rt it came with a standard windshield. it has two wings, one on each side of the windshield. The original parts that secured the wings to the w.shield have completely fallen apart. The wings can direct airflow away from you or towards you depending on how you position them. Does anyone know of replacement brackets for the 4 oem brackets that are two for each wing? Or maybe an alternative solution to make them operate as they should. I like their feature when working as they were designed to. any help, suggestions or even pics of a solution will be greatly appreciated.
  Thank you,
  Lefthander

If there is not a fix or brackets are not available, anyone using an aftermarket shield that they recommend?
I've looked at the Clearview? with the vent in the lower center of the windshield and the looks to have some promise.

I had those on my first K75RT. Very handy to flip them around for airflow when it gets hot out.

If any one of those hinges is still good then 3D printing might be a way to get replacement parts.

Another option to consider would be converting to the later electric windscreen.

I found those wings to be useless for getting some air when the weather was hot.

What I did was get a cheap used windshield and cut it down to get lots of air.  The nice thing is that it got my head in clean airflow which cut down the turbulence around the helmet.

I saved the original screen for use early and late in the season when the weather was colder.

I wonder if some kind of cabinet hinge setup may work. has someone found a replacement product that could mimic the original setup? Its either I find a fix or go aftermarket. just trying to retain originality of the bike. Thanks, Lefthander

I would avoid drilling additional holes in the event you can find replacement hinges.

For the time being I would just take the wings off and watch eBay for a used windshield to come up for a reasonable price that has hinges.
