Here's the deal on this thread. We all see some pretty neat ch!t when we ride. Sometimes we even remember to take a picture of it. Whether it's a lake, mountain, cool old car, bike, whatever. Post your random photos here. Has to be on a ride though.
Here's my "go to" pic on our trip to Jasper, AB.

You're not from America but if you Google "comcast sucks" and look at the number of hits then that might give you an idea of why.
You're also in a much different time zone. I don't know WTF they're up to in the middle of the night (they'd probably claim it's server maintenance or some other lame excuse) but often in the middle of the night here their servers are incredibly slow.
I'd change in a heartbeat but where I live it's the only game in town for high speed Internet as they have the cable monopoly.

This really wasn't a big deal. Just a flat rear. It took less than 1.5 hours for the tow truck to show up (which isn't bad for being in Middle-of-Nowhere, MT) and I had Progressive towing insurance. The guy had a nice bike trailer and let me tie down the front and tell him how to tie down the rear so it was a good tow.
(I now carry a plug kit - which has come in handy.)

Sorry, I was unaware the file size was so big.
Freebie connection on the college network with Comcast for the last three years, lightening speed. Tendency to forget about bricKhead's with slow connections.

Perhaps you might consider converting it from .b m p to .jpg and reducing the quality to web standard, then it should be more suitably sized.

Ridden that road many times. It's a hoot, as they say.
There's also some decent camping and dual-sporting in the area on the OR side anyway, not sure 'bout the WA side.

OK, I have seen all of Johnny's CA photos, ( I do love them all), but Oregon has some pretty nice roads. I went up 101 from Florence, around to Oceanside and Tillamook, then south at Astoria to Jewel (well a few miles of not so smooth roads). Next day to Amboy, yee Haw, and back to Valley on 213 through Silverton. Sweet 450 miles.

Same here, I lived in Redding for 6 years :loco: Yeah, I got into quite an argument with my fiance on what the Monterey area should be classified as(she's a local)... boiled down to Central Coast or The Salad Bowl
That stretch looked kinda similar to what I've been riding around the past few weeks Tomales/Bodega/Sebastopol. Didn't quite get that wide open view though. Is that more down more near Pt Reyes/Mt Tam area?
-
Billymac ... I call my favorite road to ride, "Fairfax-Bolinas Road - Bolinas Ridge Road Ridgecrest Blvd." Somewhat a famous area, and very popular place to see and ride because our car manufacturers will shoot their respective T.V. car ads upon this road... :yow
After hitting the ridge we usually dump down from the ridge (West) to the coast (Hwy 1) and ride the Pacific Coast Hwy for awhile. Makes for a fun ride day.

You and I have had pretty good luck with PR2s and mileage - I'd call this an "isolated incident".... :hmm:

That Eureka Mot-hell 6 is rather nasty. (Good place to score some meth though....)
The LampLighter down the street is marginally better.
There's another one called The Discovery or something but it's a rathole too.
Why I prefer camping....

Last year I rode the same route as you Johnny, we stayed in the Travel lodge. 3 of us and found a room with three beds. But I agree with your assessment of motel selection. And the prices are sky high!

"No"
She just does not appreciate a good motorcycle when she sees one.

Even though we are all about K bikes, it is nice to see a clean R65 in the mix from time to time. I think some of the R65s used a k bike front end. Anyone know if that is true or not?

May be the other way round... the later R65s (81 on) used Brembo brakes and the same "Choke" on the handle bars as the K,s the one pictured is my "79" which features the origonal clam shell air filter and "Choke" mounted on it which is far prettier than the plastic air box which came in 81, the front brakes are ATE for some reason all the UK bikes i have seen are twin disc where as the US ones are single ??.

It seems like the only time I get out to Two Rock is when I need a replacement ID card. Do you know anything about Two Rock's history?

Not as well as I should I suppose. I know it used to be an Army base. I'm stationed at the Coast Guard base out there. Makes for a nice jumping off point for lunch break rides cool shades

Yeah, your right, it was an army communications base. From what I understand it was very hush, hush for the first part of it's life. Check out the front gate picture. I assume it was from after WWII.

This is sister sticky thread to The Workshop's "What Did You Did To Your Motobrick Today?" thread.
POSTING RULES FOR THIS THREAD: You must post/attach a pic of your brick taken while you were out riding. Even crappy cell phone pics are acceptable. If you're commenting on a pic someone else posted then, of course, a pic is NOT required.

I rode my brick ('88 K75S) to work today. The white marks on the pavement are made every time I park my R1100RT on the centerstand. It likes to leave footprints.
We are having an East Texas MOA Charter Club meeting tonight, I'll try and remember to snap a picture of the brick there too.

Rode from Nacogdoches to Jacksonville Texas last night for our monthly MOA/RA club meeting.
When we got into town, traffic was awful, not the usual for Jacksonville at 6 p.m. There were also roadblocks, cones, and patrol car lights flashing everywhere. Turned out that the annual Christmas parade was being held that night, and passing one block away from Sadler's restaurant, where we were meeting. We were in quite a snarl, trying to work past parked cars and groups of pedestrians.
At one point we were at a T intersection and didn't really want to pull out. A police officer helping with traffic walks over to us and says, "I don't care where you go, but you have to go NOW." I took that as a get-out-of-jail free card and pulled out into the turn lane and rode it a block or so down the street, keeping an eye out for wayward cars and pedestrians. We ended up fitting four bikes into a small paved & gravel spot right up behind the restaurant. There is a bandit and an R1100RT behind my brick :k75s. An R1200GS arrived shortly after we arrived.

Tuesday. Early December on a Tuesday is a great time to ride the best road in the country. (The northern part of Hwy 1.) Hardly any traffic and the few locals you do run into are very good about pulling over to let you by.

This evening I took our granddaughter Trinity on her first ride on my '88 K75S. She did great! We rode about 20 miles round trip between our house (north of Nacogdoches, TX) and her aunt's house (downtown Nac).
She never complained about the cold, talked to me most of the way through the headset, and every now and then threw her hands up in the air and gave a shout.

Lucky you, I would love to have a family member on ride. My wife won't get on a bike and I don't have my daughter set up with gear yet.
I have to ask, what helmet are you wearing?
-
A guy from Escondido contacted me a couple of days ago looking for a gas cap and a shift lever for his son's 85 K100RT. Said he wanted to get them quickly. Out of the goodness of my heart I offered to personally deliver them to the top of Mt. Palomar.
It was a nice sunny 190 mile round trip through the high desert with little traffic....

First official (not in the parking ramp) ride of the year yesterday.
It was 36 degrees fahrenheit, definitely wish had a windshield. The battery needs to be replaced as well, I was lucky to get it started. Anyways, it was great to get out again after a long winter. Time to get it ready for the rest of the season.
I went down to the Cathedral of St. Paul. Sorry, this pic does not give the Cathedral justice. This is looking at the left trancept:

Wow, you are a motivated biker if you rode yesterday. Yes, it was "warm" for MN but also wet and icy!
Mine is still apart, I just ordered some parts (throttle body ducts) which will take a week before I can even start putting her back together. My goal is to have her running by May.
I didn't know you had the bike in town with you during the school year. If you ever need a garage to work on her, just let me know, I'm just across the river in S Mpls (42nd and Cedar). I'd be glad to meet you and help you out. Sunday afternoons are my normal time for wrenching on the bike.
BTW, I don't know if its just me but I can't see your picture.
-
Thanks a ton for the offer, I may have to take you up on it sometime, as I don't have too many tools up here, not to mention the parking ramp isn't the most ideal wrenching location. If I can't do it with duct or electrical tape and a Swiss Army knife, I'm done for. Luckily I haven't needed more than that yet (This summer I'm going to put together a tool kit).
Yesterday was kind of the preliminary ride, see what's up after the winter. Over spring break I'm going to do as much work as I can to get her ready for summer. I may say good-bye to the RT fairing. I'll put something in the wrenching part of the forum when the time comes.
Thanks for letting me know about the picture, I've been using Dropbox and it will work in the preview, but not when it's posted. I may just switch over to photo bucket, it seems to work well for everyone else.
Thanks again, hopefully I'll see you around. Good luck on your wrenching.
-
I done rode around the block ... twice ... in the snow ... about five miles. But it felt huge! First time I've heard my motor since November, after I succeeded in redoing the injector O-rings (2 of them) that I mangled when I installed my refurbed injectors. Can't wait for some warm days! This is going to be a great year for riding, I can feel it.

Rode a few hundred miles around East Texas yesterday and today. Spent the night at Boykin Springs Camping Area. Nice weather for camping this time of year.

I rode my Teutonic beast to my buddies farm in Orange VA last weekend for some beers, flyfishing, mowing and birthing some calfs. She's not pretty. But she is a brute and I love her. She's never let me down. I ride her to work every day. A paltry 15 miles direct. But for some reason or other, many days end up being 40 or 50 miles home. Hmmmmm??

Since I bought my first BMW a couple years ago I've found myself leaving my house early and going for a ride for an hour during my six-mile commute to work.
Nice bike by the way. I love the white RS with the pinstripes.

yeah...so I rode the K1100 to work today. These are some pics of my commute. Really sux. The RS is that Hot chick from the soccer team you dated for a month in your youth who was hell in bed. She just wants to GET THERE FAST AND HARD. Where the LT is that triathlete...athletic and powerful, but also patient and willing to take her time while arriving at the destination with care and class.

Couple weeks ago I caught up with my Cousin who I haven't seen in nearly 20 years despite living less then 20 miles apart since 1980 and we even lived on the same street for a couple years (and didnt know it). He's a Harley rider but hay he's family so can't hold that against him to much. So he invited me along on a ride with him a few of his friends. Good time was had and looking forward going out with them again.
We rode to Bridal Falls NC. had lunch in Highlands NC.

Duane McDaniels http://motorcyclehalloffame.ca/mcdaniels_duane.htm (http://motorcyclehalloffame.ca/mcdaniels_duane.htm)
Probably the most famous being Bob Leppan who held Worlds motorcycle speed records in 65 at 212.689MPH and in 66 at 245.667mph. http://www.gyronautx1.com/ (http://www.gyronautx1.com/)
In 1970 He was trying to reclaim the record. Don Vesco in "big Red" had bested him at 251.924mph. Then Cal Rayborn got the record at 265.492.
Bobs 1st pass was 264.437. He return pass for the avg he was going 274mph when the fork broke. The resulting crash almost cost his arm.
Well Somehow that crash as well as some had by their other friends was always brought up as how dangerous motorcycles were. Not that I ever planned on going 274mph at Bonneville but I got it with both barrels a few times. The other and much more convincing story is were my folks dumped the bike and mom bounced a guard rail and ripped the back of her leg open and has nice scare to prove it. Got to see that often.
Well today I got to see the restored GyronautX-1 was on display AND Big red is a full time resident of the Museum. It was pretty cool to actually see the bike I had heard about often in my youth. Also got to see an overwhelming amount of nice Airheads including some 20's an 30's in the Museum.

It has been a while, but Donna & I are still around. Changed jobs & careers in late 2012, so no vacation in 2013. Took a short 85 mile hop up to the ski area, had to see our snow for 2014. Trying to plan a few trips for 2014.

Hey Bob - Was just thinking of you and Donna yesterday while traveling from Crestone CO back to Taos.
The pic is what I woke up to at my buddy's place in Crestone after helping him celebrate his 50th B-Day. It cleared up and melted off, tho I did fly through a bit of a snowstorm on the way home. Yay heated grips and vest!

Between Portrush and Coleraine, eh? I went tramping thru there ages ago, on a Sunday. The Bushmills distillery was of course, not open :musicboohoo:
Kind of a smallish looking loop with the only major curves being thru the towns. Bet it's still really fun tho!

I took the K75 up to New Era, MI to Country Dairy and picked up a Chicken in a Pickle pizza for the fiance. Was like 67 miles each way

Had a gig up north on Saturday. Was able to get a band member to haul my bass and amp, i then just needed to strap the sax onto the K75. Needed to get there on Saturday. Was able to meander a bit on the way back today. MN23 south and west of Duluth was just the ticket. Newly paved, through the woods and had the road mostly to myself.... nice.

43.8 mpg according to Fuelly over the 155 mile trip. Almost all highway though we had some slow Friday night traffic for a few miles. Pretty much 75 mph up and 70 mph back. I'd say that's not bad.
I need to get around to getting a spray can mixed up and painting the top case to match

11-hours of scenery around the south side of Mt Rainier yesterday included a stop at Spanish bakery in Tieton, WA.

Chatted with an oilhead rider at the McDonalds in Manistee...he said he's been interested in getting a K.
Do aerodynamics get better with someone on the pillion? I filled up right before heading out on our trip and Fuelly says we got 46 mpg and we were running 75-78 mph for most of that tank, though we were doing just 60 for a portion of that (but not much). If I were running that speed by myself I'd get like 41.
I'll post in my other "Does your body really get used to it?" ergonomic thread tomorrow but I've used some of the suggestions given and I don't seem to be sore like I have been.
-
Who knew????
ran across this while riding around Martha's Vineyard, MA.
small town of Chilmark, tiny rural cemetery.
Word has it that body has been relocated to unmarked grave in same cemetery because folks constantly leave "tributes" (AKA trash) on original site.
don't know why JB is resting here but it sure is a peaceful place.

Spent the weekend with three friends at my cabin in northwest Wisconsin. Among other great roads, found a long twisty road that dead ended at "Teal Lake".
-
Today I took my Brick (and my girlfriend) from our hometown south of peoria IL, to St Louis and back. Had some bbq, got some new vinyls, and loved the route. Rt 100 is almost a straight shot from where we are and the section of 100 between Grafton and Alton is some of the prettiest road I've been on. River to your right, bluffs to your left.
-
Nice! I rode along the illinois great river road earlier this summer! It was one of the prettiest stretches for sure with all those bird sactuaries and the river bluffs.
-
Rode to Newport for stuff, back home to drop stuff off. Bumped into friends, decided we needed to go Florence for moto related stuff, had lunch on the deck overlooking the Siuslaw River, back to Yachats to pickup other friends, onto Waldport fro refreshments, snapped this pic on the way home.

Heinz took me down to the shores of Burlington Bay (Hamilton, ON) for a morning workout at the rowing club...land training only! It was around 30F (-1C). It's a short ride from where I live but I take every opportunity to ride my bikes before the snow flies. She's coming up on 3,000 miles in my hands. The love builds! Great machine...a little quirky but I'm a believer!
-
I sure like my LT also. Shelved until February, starting to get black ice around here. Counting the days until I'm back on it!
-
Tuco, always a little sad to pack 'er away for the winter. Kinda like closing the cottage for the season! I am very aware of the black ice issue. My son's buddy (16) went down on his sport bike just last week. He's OK...fairing not so good. I think we all keep a close eye on road conditions. If the sun can get to the black top we are good to go. Best to err on the side of caution...take care. It won't be long now. :riding:
-
I also have an old Yam XT550 that I'll ride on the clear days (which are few around here this time of year) for when I get to needing a ride.
-
Been some unusually good weather in these parts the past couple weeks, bright sun and temps of 50+ F. I haven't been able to do any long rides, but have been using the RT for errands. Getting in 20 -30 miles at a time. Couple more good days later this week so might get a few December rides in. Last year I was watching 7 feet of snow slowly melt at this time.
-
Like a heat wave over there !

Global climate change, Baby!...

Elegant rig! You're wringing the mileage out of that rear tire. :2thumbup:

Closing in on 10.5 on the rear Shinko now. Just finally erased the center groove. Rear tire has been in hand for a month, will be changing as part of winter maintenance festivities.
These bikes are photogenic aren't they.

Dang, that's a beauty Gryph!

Lovely pics all. I hope to contribute soon. But this morning I rode the K75s 100 miles to LAX and split lanes in the dark for the second half of it. And dang, it was chilly this morning 37 degrees (F) - 5 degrees till freezing.

Dang, that's a beauty Gryph!
Thanks! Will be doing a cafe chop on her this winter...
...NOT!!!

God damned nearly had a heart attack until I saw the not!!
I even like some of the cafe's but that's just gorgeous. I was about ready to demand you swap with my naked shorty model before you hack that thing up.
I thought the fairings looked a bit silly and dated when I first bought my k75, but after putting 6K mostly highway miles with just an after market windscreen on my naked bike, I wish I had that big ole shield in front!

lol....if the sign was covered with snow, how would you be able to read it to tell the road was impassable?

Do you think!

Let me know if you can't read this message, Marshall.
-
I've been doing a bunch of maintenance on the K75 these last few weeks. New alternator, new swingarm, fluid changes, new brake line, accessory and light wiring changes, LED headlamp and front rotors.
Finally took a 50 mile shake-down ride today to see if anything would break or fall off. Fortunately it went well.
-
looked like a great ride! may have to start packing a paddle though......or an outboard motor...

There's proof that Shinko 712's are great when it's wet
-
Heinz took me to my office yesterday at around -4C....high 20's F. Roads were bone dry when I left and then light flurries came. No biggie. Dry again today. I would never have guessed I'd still be riding on January 21st in our neck of the woods. She was mothballed on January 2nd last year for a mere 65 days...no complaints. This year looks as if I will ride every month. But you never know what storms might come!! Still lots of winter left.

Monday, near Cinebar, WA.

Beautiful stretch of forest road there. Had to look closely, I thought maybe it was a picture of an airhead - those guards and lights tricked me.
I just parked mine at an airport (again...). Not photo-worthy.

Had a lunch meeting in Yelm, WA today so afterwards I headed out towards Mt. Rainier. Nice traffic-free riding with Fahrenheit temps in the low 50's. Just a touch of precipitation.
Most of the good roads were still closed for the winter though.
Burned through a full tank of gas. Fuel economy is about the same as with the old OEM injectors, maybe a little better. 42mpg.

which soft tail pack are you using Tim?

Warm and sunny today. Took the road through the deforestation to Brooklyn, WA.

Tim: what's the app you use again for tracking yourself online?

I have a v2 SPOT and I use Spotwalla. Sucks when it's overcast. Sucks less when sky is clear.

My Spot Messenger tracking subscription just came up for renewal. $150/year. Decided to replace it with a Spot Trace for $100/year.
Obviously the Trace is less expensive, plus it will track forever as long as it has 5v. The Messenger would stop tracking after 24 hours. My Messenger is beat-up too, and the waterproof buttons aren't waterproof anymore. The Trace plots a point every 5 minutes while Messenger plots every 10 minutes. The Trace is newer tech too so I hope it communicates better with the satellites. The Trace is motion-activated so it starts plotting whenever the bike moves; set it and forget it.
Of course I loose the ability to call for help in remote areas, but I have a phone.

No photos but I took the 88 K100 LT for its first ride of the season ! It was also my first ride in over 25 years :riding:. I am super impressed at how smooth the old girl is :2thumbup: The cobwebs cleared out after a few km, and all that I need to resolve is the ABS. The PO said it worked so I am hoping a reset will clear it. Speedo didn't work at first but started working after 10 minutes down the road  Forecast is for a warm dry spring here so I am optimistic for a long season of riding my brick :bmwsmile

Rode the K bike to "work" today.

Good for you, Bill. You will find those bikes like to spin. She should just get better as you get the oil pumping through her veins....
And Snanny...shows you what I don't know. If someone had told me there was skiing in Arizona...I woulda said, "Ya, right!" Nice looking venue...

And here's a stop on the way home near sunset in Gila Bend, AZ. Yeah, my bike is 25 years old. But it's not a metal dinosaur.
I enjoyed a stunning, desolate ride through the Anza Borrego Desert under a full moon (Highway S2 North from Ocotillo). 400 miles yesterday stopping only for gas. Very happy with the Corbin seat - and absolutely thrilled with the performance of the new EBC brake rotors and pads up front.

Great photo. I am interested in seeing concrete dinosaurs on my travels. Does anyone here know where I can find them? Maybe I should start a new thread.

A pair of famous roadside dinosaurs "live" near Palm Springs, CA.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabazon_Dinosaurs
It's only a 2,500 mile ride from NY. A round trip ought to earn you a new set of tires.
-
Wow! those are the ones from Pee Wee's Big Adventure!!! They have now been added to my must see list of famous American sites.

May as well add the world's tallest thermometer to your list.

It's in Baker, CA and you can ride through Mojave and Joshua Tree between there and the dinosaurs.

+1 on that. The styling dodads they are putting on the newer bikes are ridiculous, especially the bird beaks on the GS models. WTF?!

-
That is some pretty white sand they have there. How's the bike running?
-
Yuo :neener: We use the browner stuff on the road ! Was a lot of it at corners and intersects today [courtesy of our ice storm last week] :mbird Bikes running well but that is only my estimation / opinion :dunno. Seems great to me.... 1 - 2 shifts maybe a little clunky. Will be changing fluids this week . Have speed bleeders coming and some moly powder for gearbox.
Stopprd short of a recommended twisties as sand was a little too much for me ..... didn't want to
-
I think you're going to like the moly powder. The two bikes I put it in are shifting noticeably easier and smoother. The third has that pink stuff in it and doesn't shift as nice as the other two now. I think I'll be changing it soon and going to full synthetic with a couple teaspoons of the moly.
And don't put the moly in the engine. It's so slippery, it'll screw up the sprag clutch which needs a little bit of friction to work properly.

Regarding which . . . (http://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/beaks)
-
Thanks for the link to that article. No wonder I like the new Africa Twin so much - no beak (as mentioned in the article). I hadn't actually noticed the absence of beak, just liked the look of the bike (and its performance). I could see one of those in my garage once there are some used ones on the market - that or a Husqvarna 701 - depending on the expected dirt/street ratio. I sometimes miss my KTM 950 Adventure (also beakless).

The frost is out of the mountain road and the salt is off the blacktop so I took a ride to get a helmet part from Roadside Motorsports in Williston, Vermont. This is looking southeast at Camels Hump mountain in the distance. I live on the mountain's eastern flank. Fair weather, a light wind and temperature around 45şF make for good riding.

didnt qualify so good... i had road tiors and with the snow the track gotts sloppy... the rest of these folks trailored their motos and had a selection of tiors... im the only one who rode mine... had to run what i brung...
had to take off my lights off plus the iconic 22 liter and tragkorbs to satisfy tech... that and being twice the weight of the other motos...
by my heat time the track had dried out so i had some grip... ended up winning my heat...
during the race my drive shaft broke a u joint on the last lap... unfortunately i went from 1st to last in a half lap...
the woes of motobrick racing... how fast you wanna go... how much motobrick did you bring... i brought the whole f-ing thing...

Basturds... How bout the mountain bike?
-
Rode all the way around the Olympic Peninsula today to escape the 96F heat that came to town.
Hit the road at about 11am. Got home about 7pm.
Stopped at a beach and got some sun for a half hour or so.
Stopped for a beer and clam chowder at the pub in the creepy Stepford Wives town of Seabrook, WA (http://www.seabrookwa.com/). The town is only ten years old but it's impeccably designed to resemble an old New England village right down to the plants hanging on porches and the texture of the sidewalks. It's like they transplanted the "Murder She Wrote" film set to a hill in WA.
Dinner at Turnip the Beet (http://www.turnipthebeet.biz/) in Port Angeles. I love that place. The website makes it look fancy but it's really a dive with really good, yet simple food.
Got stopped by a state trooper while passing my way through a long line of slowpokes on the 101 near Hoodsport, WA. Clocked me doing 70 in a 45 but that's cause I had just passed somebody who sped-up as I was passing them. He let me off with a warning after making small talk, probably to check if I was sober.
Was a good ride. Mostly in the upper 70's near the ocean and low 80's further inland. Better than 96 back home!

I met up with WigWam and his freshly overhauled K for a late breakfast in Olympia, then up to the frigidly wet and overcast Windy Ridge lookout at Mt St Helens, then into Mt Rainier National Park east of Packwood, and finally wrapping up with burgers at Whittaker's Bunkhouse in Ashford, WA.
-
It was a great ride, made even better with the outstanding direction from Tim Tyler. For 16 years I've lived within 1 1/2 hours of Mt. Rainier, yesterday was the first time visiting the park. Beautiful views, horrible roads; I nearly lost my teeth on the pool sized potholes.
The ride with Tim was a "shakedown cruise" for my recently overhauled 1985 K100RS, and she did well, except for an apparent leak from the speed sensor; I suspect the O-ring.
Over the winter I did the following;
rebuilt front and rear master cylinders, replaced left/right perches, throttle and clutch cables, replaced all hoses, dropped the entire oil pan, cleaned it, soda blasted years of neglected funk, and thoroughly cleaned oil pick up, rebuilt the throttle bodies, replaced the rubber on top and bottom of the TBs, cleaned and lubed the spline, and FD. Finally, replaced the Luftmeister exhaust, installed by PO with an OEM exhaust, polished the exhaust ports.
Photos reveal a '93 K1100RS fairing. My bike affectionately known as Fräulein Beemer, was Alaskablau. I re-sprayed the tank and rear fairing and mirrors to match the acquired front fairing and belly pan. 66AutoColor provided the color code matched paint, 2K primer and clear, highly recommended.
Time to ride now!

Went to Moscow Friday ! First long ride with Patches 500 km Friday and another 500+ on Saturday after an overnight in Ottawa. Had so much fun on the twisties from Tweed to Verona I missed my turn and had to do it again in the other direction ! Saturday found more back roads through Bonnecherre, Killaloe and then on to Barry's Bay. After a slow tour through Algonquin Park [60km] a lunch break in Dorset a spirited ride down 35 to Minden and home to Sutton !

haven't been on the brick for a month due to biz travel (belated hello to the Kiwi's...didn't see any bricks in wellington).
so..took to the road this brisk fall morning to great falls national park. beautiful day. 45deg, leaves in full color, with so many falling it was like snow.

this Sunday mornings ride was the "Chilly Ferry Tour".
it was 31deg F when i rolled out at 0730, hence the "chilly"
Ride went up the MD side of the Potomac River, stopping at old ferry crossings along the way. Much of ride was on 1-1.5 lane wide winding roads along the C&O Towpath through estates, farms and woods. Spectacular views for a fall day.
first stop, Edwards Ferry Landing.

Beautiful, thanks for sharing.
Say, you should put a plug in the open end of your center stand. Water can pool in there and rust out the stand from the inside. Then the bike falls over at the worst possible time and place (usually landing on your wife's car).
-
Thanks! Haven't thought of that... :2thumbup:
-
+1 Bill but fill the stand with rust convertor first, and then use something like LPS corrosion inhibitor.
Regards Martin.

It is cliche to say that I jumped on my Brick and rode Highway 1 from Los Angeles to San Francisco?

Went to Mortons BMW...50 miles south of DC. But it was a nice day, so it took me 143miles to get there. Went via two lane east in MD to Cobb island, over 301 bridge, and more VA two lane to Fredricksburg. Ride started at 41deg, ended at 70deg.

Getting around San Francisco is definitely much easier on a motorcycle.
-
Cool, they painted the bridge to match your bike!

After a couple of weeks of road-melting heat, yesterday morning was cool and fresh and begging for some riding to be done. One of the attached pictures is taken on a little road out the back of Ardlethan somewhere, so untravelled you could stop in the middle of the road, take photos (and a quick pee) without anyone coming along. The other was taken while stopped for a drink in Grong Grong, one of those little hamlets that the main highway skirts around but few people actually go into.

Hey Don - thanks for that shot of Guadalupe. Haven't been through there in a few years - but it doesn't change, eh?
I went to Julian today, a mountain town in San Diego, famous for apple pie.
Stuffed a whole frozen pie in the wee-brick's bag and chatted with a guy on a K1600GTL (the L is for Lounger). I observed that two of my motors wouldn't even equal his 1600cc 6-cylinder. He said he had a K100 once but the upkeep was "killing him." He paid $2,500 to repair a leaking rear main seal. I guess he doesn't have many tools... poor guy, wait till that 1600 needs something major...

Due to nature of my current job, I haven't had any time to ride the K75 for a few months. And this looks to be the case for a few more as well.
I did have a free Saturday to drain the tank of old gas in the mountains above Los Angeles on Angeles Crest Highway. I left L.A. to Newcomb's Ranch, then to Wrightwood, back to Littlerock on Pearl Blossom Highway to Highway 14 south and west back to L.A and home. I made a stop at a crazy gift shop in Littlerock where they had 12 different kinds of Creme Soda and Unicorn Lamps alongside the beef jerky.

The fuel light came on just as I pulled into the driveway. That K75, she sure is smooth.
-
Great pics. Those are some great roads too. I went through Wrightwood a few months ago - followed the San Andreas Fault line from there to Highway 33, North of Ojai.
-
Good brew run on the brick.
-
I have decided the dry season is officially here.
To celebrate I went on a 70 mile run on the twisties this morning.
Had a blast even though I had planned to do a big loop on the twisties then come back on the freeway. I got within 5 miles of the freeway and found a bridge out so I had to turn round and go back the way I came. Still that meant a double helping of twisties!
Here is a link to the ride, I tracked it on Rever

This weekend my wife and I took a little overnight break at the Arenal Volcano, amazing ride there, all twisties and narrow roads but lots of fun. Once there we soaked in hot springs and went for walks to beautiful views and generally had a fantastic time alone without the kids!

Great sunday ride with a group of friends.
Breakfast in the mountains, drinks at the beach, lunch at another beach. The brick was by far the old lady of the group but she did great and got lots of admiring glances. We got absolutely soaked on the way home but it was worth every second!

Very nice.
I remember my great trips in the early 1980s to Danmark when stationed in Germany. We set up a radar site near Vorupor and made trips to Thisted and rode our bicycles along the coast enjoying the scenery and hospitality.
Wish to be able to return for motorcycle rides, thanks for sharing your pictures.

Me and Ilsa are doing a little skeedaddle out west for a couple weeks. So far it's been the trip from hell, and hell has frozen over. The past two days I've covered about 1300 miles in temperatures that never got above 40 degrees. Today it never got above 36 and when I checked into the hotel in Swift Current, Saskatchewan it was feckin' snowing.
Earlier in the day I passed through Miami. The weather was nice and sunny and 33 degrees. Miami, Manitoba that is. A few miles up the road I passed a field where two crows were harassing a bald eagle. I stopped, but before I could get my camera out the crows took off, leaving the eagle who hung around long enough to get a photo.
A few more miles down the road I stopped at a reservation gas station where I was greeted by a very friendly dog that had to be part Siberian Husky. He had blue eyes and the characteristic curled tail, but his face sure wasn't that of a husky, and neither were the ears.
Weather forecast is for up to 12 inches of snow in Banff tomorrow and Tuesday, so now I have to make plans to head back to the States and find some other way to get to the West Coast of Washington and Oregon.

I rode in the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride in San Jose COsta Rica today and saw two other Bricks, one standard bike and a cafe racer.
I also rode in the local DGR yesterday, in the mist and rain in Madison, WI. Only about fifteen of us showed up... I wasn't wet or miserable like some of the other riders, that RT fairing works great in the cold and rain!
Only one other K bike, a 1600. He was pretty dry too!

Nice action pic one of the other riders captured.

A bit of rain on the helmet, but still looking distinguished. (so my wife says anyway...)

Wow, your K75 sounds amazing. Makes me want to hang a gopro off my K100RS and see how she sounds.
Fun bikes, that track looks awesome. I'm headed to Barber tomorrow, maybe I can get mine up on a track day there someday...
Cheers

the K75 is stock, with stock muffler. that is the sound they all make when rev'd into the range they are most happy in! 6k-8k rpm.

Rode my K100RS16v to the Barber Vintage Motorcycle Festival, man was it hot, but such a fun ride.
233 miles door to track to door. Bonus - the K100 is now running great, the 'Italian Tuneup' I did on her running it fast for 4 hours on interstate and twisty backroads has cleaned her out and she now sounds like a well oiled machine! So much better than before!

Last Wednesday morning I thought I'd leave Ft. Collins, Colorado for home. Was a pleasantly overcast day day just right for blasting down the Interstate at 85 in temperatures in the low 30's.
About 30 miles out the boredom was relieved by the sight of 2 inches of snow as far as the eye could see. Stopped for gas in Arriba, Colorado, or was that Kansas?

Sorry to break this to ya, Gryph. "You're not in Kansas any more, Dorothy".

MotoBricking in NJ this weekend, Round Valley Reservoir.
A bit chilly, almost time for electrics.

As the roads started opening up, I took the K100RS through the Santa Monica Mountains to look at some of the damage from the Woolsey Fire. Our home was 100 yards on the other side of an evacuation line, so we didn't have to leave, but our house was filled for a time with people who did.
It is amazing to see that in many places the fire would march up to a home's property line and stop. Of course many others weren't so lucky.

Today was the first gathering of a new group here called the San Jose Clasicos. The term clasico is very broadly defined so new/old retro style bikes are allowed to be included. Even so more bikes than I expected turned including another K! A 1985 K100, also a nice Ural, a 1992 R100GS and a 1982 R65 with a rig. No unique loopless Ks but a couple of other caffed bikes were on show.

We rode two-up on a loop from Waterbury, Vermont to Lake Champlain this morning. We had pleasant breakfast at The Bridge restaurant in Addison, VT then crossed into New York over the Crown Point Bridge. After traveling north on Rt 22 through Port Henry and Westport, we turned toward Essex. At Essex we boarded Lake Champlain Transportation ferry M/V Governor George D. Aiken to Charlotte, VT and rolled back home.
My feculent moto ran swiftly and smoothly as usual. Not a single dim-witted remark concerning its appearance was encountered; however, when somebody asked what we were riding I answered, a cropduster. Two discussions then ensued—one was about the benefits of taking the MSF course and watching 50 hours of motorcycle accidents on YouTube prior to making a decision to buy a moto. The other was about manual lymph drainage being an effective treatment modality for certain chronic conditions and certain severe injuries. That one was out of my scope of experience, except for my having lymph nodes. I don't think anybody disputed the idea that it's better to learn from the errors of others rather than commit those errors yourself, especially when injury and recuperation are involved. Accord was reached within a world of discord. :giggles
The day has been sunny, breezy, entertaining and refreshing.

Today I borrowed my brother's bike for a ride in Montenegro's beautiful nature. Such great landscapes, such a beautiful country, and there are still a lot of things to discover.. It's the first time I'm visiting him since he bought a house here and it's even more amazing than he was telling me on the phone. Eh, maybe it's finally the right time and the right place to buy the villa I've been dreaming about for all my life considering the recent affordable house prices in Montenegro (https://tranio.com/montenegro/detached/). I've been riding all day with these thoughts in my head, let's see what my wife will think about it.

MT Disappointment State Forrest. Went to an isolated picnic area up the bush so I could have an hour or few without hearing that word, then I got a government text telling me what to do about the corona virus. OK, plan B, I'll go again tomorrow. They call it Disappointment cause the first to scale it thought they'd see the cities bay, but couldn't, now you can cause they cut a path in the trees.

The K75S and its brothers have been sitting idle in a corner of the shop for 7 months. pandemic and some other issues prevented their use. couldn't take it anymore so gave each a 25mi ride on a sunny and 78deg day south of Washington, DC.
