Cold running problem 1985 KRT1000
« on: March 14, 2024, 09:27:25 PM »
I have this problem that has plagued this bike for the past year.  It will cold start fine and then run a short while than conk out and won't start.  I have to turn the key off and let it set for a minute or two.  Then it will fire up.  After I get it warmed up, no problems it will restart easy.  What are the sensors, units on this bike that could affect this and where on the bike are they located?  thanks

HES usually fails after it gets hot. This situation seems a little more interesting.

Maybe it's a bad coil or two, even more so if your brick is the earlier model. Or a spark plug, or lead.

Temperature sensor or it's wiring.  What is resistance between pins 10 and 13?

The pins used in the resistance test of the temperature sensor are located on the LE Jetronic fuel injection control unit plug attached to the control unit under the seat.

OK.  I have decided to replace the temperature sensor.  I called BMW dealership and they no longer stock the part.  Anyone have a suggestion where I can get a genuine bosch sensor?
