Great thanks, yep that is pretty much what I had in mind, I am going to go gently on the old girl to start with - and probably to end with as well lol.

There will be some instruction available there, but mainly I am looking forward to be able to lean the bike more than I normally do without worrying about horses, chickens, goats, potholes, sand and all the other daily obstacles that Costa Rican roads offer.  yawl

I have my first ever track day on my K100RS in a couple of weeks.  Do you have any brick specific tips or tricks for a day of yea haa on a 28 year old bike?

make sure tires, brake pads and brake fluid are fresh.  start off with 3-4psi lower pressure in the tires than you normally run.  make sure you and the bike are totally ready the day before the event.  do not leave ANYTHING for the last minute.

at the track...start slow.  listen to the instructors.  work on being SMOOTH.  don't just try to go fast.

K's are long heavy bikes.  they are a workout to get around a track....

three rules for track days...be safe...have fun....improve your skills.

(although i am a student at MC track events, I am a long time competition and performance driving instructor in cars...)

It's three hours from me. Who believes the odometer?

Got my heart set on another K11LT ABS, but looked at this ad a bunch, was actually thinking of taking a ride to check it out but the weather is so crappy,,,,,,,,,,,
Clearing on Thursday but why reset your heart?

What do you fellows think of this?
Does it start? Does it idle? Does it run? Does it run then idle? Does it stop and yet idle? Can the brakes stop forward motion or is stopping dependent upon gravity or obstacles? Do the brakes pulsate when it stops? What's that noise right there just behind the transmission or maybe in front of it? Does the horn honk when an indicator flashes? Do the indicators honk and the high beam blink alternately? Can it be ridden with one hand? Can it be ridden with no hands? Can it be ridden with no feet?

To paraphrase the words of Dicken's Ralph Nickleby, Beneath every pretty face, there's a grinning skull.

another update. soon after the previous one, something shorted while riding the bike on the freeway and the electrical started smoking. i'm guessing it was general carelessness with the wiring by me (not taking the time to properly cap and store the wires i cut / wasn't using). in any case, the bike wasn't starting, most of my main loom was fried, and i learned a good lesson... so, i bought a used loom on ebay and set about re-wiring the bike -- hoping that nothing else was damaged. it took a while to label, disconnect, test, and re-wire, but the bike started again!!! it was super satisfying to bring the bike back from the dead (even if i prolly killed it to begin with).

SEAT
however, now that it was running again, i kept pushing forward... and, first up was the seat. my buddy was kind enough to give me an old skate deck he had lying around, which i made a seat pan out of. then, i cut out / shaved down an old seat i had from a previous build. i wrapped the new seat in a blanket and strapped it to the skate deck. still working on the silhouette here but very happy with version 1.0.

NOW
so... here's the bike now with new headlight, new tail light, updated seat pan / skate deck and a new lease on life. gotta say... i love this fuggin bike

The Motobrick Workshop / Re: Stalls when warm on a run - won't idle

I assume your temperature sensor is OK. Might it cause overly rich mix/flooding by failing to detect that the engine has warmed up? You could test this by pressing the start button while the engine is running and cold, then warm. If the warmed-up engine stutters or quits when the button is pressed, your mixture is too rich and the temp sensor might be faulty. At least I think I have that right.

Scott, do you mean the Bridgestone A41 radial?  They look very interesting.  I really like that they aren't semi-knobbies, but have what looks like a road tire tread pattern.

I might finally be able to put radial tires on my K75RT!

Yea, I must have fat fingered it.... I edited my post.
I like that they aren't semi-knobbies as well. They seem pretty decent thus far... time will tell.
They showed up fast as well... I asked for standard 3-8 day shipping.... had them in less than 48hrs...
I got the e-mail saying they were "out for delivery" before I got the email that even said they were shipped.... lol.

Paint job is okay.  Price looks pretty reasonable to me.  It's a shame what these great machines are going for.
