WTB or WTT Multivario tankbag MOUNT
« on: May 19, 2022, 01:09:17 PM »
Looking to purchase a Multivario tank bag MOUNT to fit a K75. Stitching, zippers and elastics must be in very good condition.
I have a K1/K1100 mount in very good condition to trade (or sell - asking $60 Cdn. plus shipping).

Word of caution: Not all bases fit all top parts. I have several tank bags, both K75 and K1100 models.  The tank bags and bases don't always mix and match - even among the K1100 or K75 tank bags.  The zippers between the bases and tops are not always the same.

Because of this, I advise people buying a tank bag to buy the base and top together.

Thanks for that advice FD. Another fellow has advised me of that issue as well. I have a K75 base and bag in addition to the one I just purchased. Before I bought the new bag it was shown mounted on a K100RS, so I never thought to question if it was the K75/K100 base. Not until I tried fitting it to my bike did I discover that it was a K1/K1100 base. The new bag does fit my original base, as well as the K1/K1100 base it came with.
I hate to part with the new bag as it is in excellent condition - pretty much like new.
Both my K75 and the K1 base have RIES loop style zippers - in your experience is this not enough to ensure that a base will fit, or are there different RIES zippers involved?

I really don't know how to tell.

I only have two tank bags readily available (a K75/100 and a K1100.) They're the ones that I use. My other tank bags are buried in a box in my garage.

Out of curiosity, I just tried to mix and match them and I was SHOCKED that they did mix and match because I know others won't when I've tried in the past. They both have RIES brand zippers.

Here's what the base labels are:

I’m thinking as long as they have RIES brand zippers then it’s likely they can interchange. Here’s what my bases have for ID - both with RIES zips.

I had a response from a fellow from another site with an NOS base that showed the same part number as your K75 base, but his zippers had no id - haven’t heard back from him. ☹️

Thanks for taking the time to check that FD.
I’m still hoping to find a base on its own - willing to take a shot at one as long as it has RIES zippers.

In looking at the K75 bases I suspect yours was made earlier than mine.  Yours does not list the K75RT, mine does.  The K75RT came out in 1990.

Good eye - I missed that!

Quite possibly irrelevant but I have a 1989 K75 RT

What are the last seven digits of the VIN?

That's not the last seven digits - it's the whole VIN!!

It's a Euro model (bought in Germany) built January 1988 and with ABS (very rare for the year)

That would explain it. The K75RT wasn't available in the US until the 1990 model year.

Haha you can imagine how much fun I had trying to register this motorbike, not to mention insuring it.

They wanted me to make up a bunch of additional numbers. I could come up with 1989K75RT and then the numbers but that was still one short of the computer's expectations. I can't exactly recall but I think we finally ended up with 1989k750RT which felt sort of wrong. Or I convinced them that seven was enough, possibly.
