What going on here?
« on: April 07, 2023, 09:22:23 AM »
Place seems sorta dead lately.  Guess I'm not helping, here's what I was up to yesterday.  11 year's ago I wanted something interesting and different, love the bike, they don't fall over nearly as easy and I can ride all winter. And Heindl is a fantastic dealer, which is more than I can say for any BMW dealers around here.  Anyway, since Ural's age in dog years and I turn 70 next week this seemed like a good decision.  Also bought wife a 2023 Forester so she's happy.  Better us blow it all now instead of letting the kids waste it, right?

Man, I like those Urals, ...and the Dneprs, too.  Saw my first Dnepr with a side car in Canadastan back in the 70's and fell in love.  Always wondered where you got the machine gun that went on the mount.

I'm going on 75, and will probably get out of riding in a couple more years.  Bought a '08 MX-5 for the transition.  It's fun, but the bikes are better.  The old lady likes the Mazda a lot, so that's in it's favor.  She won't get on the bikes anymore.

Seems the 70’s becomes a turning point!
Sold my K100 RS, riding position wasn’t tolerable.
Still riding the 1100LT but no more high mileage days.
Wife won’t get on the scoot but she will spend a day in our “new to me” Jag XK-8.
2006, low miles, fair price and quite the ride.
I had a Miata and drove that until the wheels feel off, solid car, trouble free for nearly 300,000 miles.
Park the bikes, get a drop-top

Yeah, my Miata is a lot of fun.  92,000 miles, but looks almost brand new since I recovered the seats and did the top.  Galaxy Grey with "basketball orange" leather interior.  Fun car that feels like you are going a lot faster than you really are.  Good way to get some jollies without the accompanying invitations to traffic court.

Reminds me of my Triumph Spitfire, I could pretend I was Mario Andretti redlining it in the first 3 gears and get passed by an old lady in a 6 cylinder Nova who didn't even know she was drag racing!

Exactly!  Tough car to get a ticket in.
