Hi all,
I'm In the process of (slowly) building my first unique bike, so this may be a really simple question to some of you...
anyhow... I have tried Google, searching these forums and others and asking those I know to no avail as yet.
I want to put a new front brake and clutch lever on my K bike. What are my options/limitations when trying to find a new brake lever?
To my understanding the 89' K100 LT requires a 13mm Master cylinder. Can I run a 16mm front brake master cylinder with no complications?
Hopefully, if anyone else has gone down the path of aftermarket levers and master cylinders as well as throttle controls - I would love too see what you did or some guidance in the right direction.
Cheers
Scott

my bike came fully built from the factory...

Oh thanks for your reply Johnny. Very helpful and worth everyone’s time reading.
I guess without the human desire to improve the looks of something/how it left factory we wouldn’t have fake tits... and I know what I prefer. Each to their own hey.

Without this thread, it wouldn't have occurred to me to focus on which I really preferred—left, right, fake, or real. It was worth every moment spent reading. Thanks to both of you. :2thumbup:

If you do, it will take more force to activate the brakes. The larger bore creates less pressure. That wouldn't seem desirable unless building hand strength is a goal.
There are plenty of threads in the Custom section here describing motos with aftermarket levers or levers swapped from other brands but using such levers and perches will usually require accommodation for their diameters if you attempt to use them on a 22.0mm BMW handlebar. When you find one of those threads, send a personal message to the builder for more details.

What's time worth anyway?

For students who were absent from the last seminar, this rhetorical device is called Damning with faint praise. Take out your workbooks and try creating one of your own. Send it in for review and the author of the best one might receive a coconut, depending upon supply. Shipping must be paid in advance.

Like most of us we do like the look of fake (If not ridiculously out of proportion). But having only squeezed the factory model can't possibly comment on whether fake is firmer :johnny

I'm having an insight on why the op wants to change his handlebar squeezy thingamajigs.

Good for you Johnny. No were(sic) did I say it’s going to be unique. Well done.
Please check the first sentence in the first post in this thread. You may have forgotten what you wrote.
"I'm In the process of (slowly) building my first unique bike, so this may be a really simple question to some of you..."
Memory issues can be painful if they involve things like connecting brake lines or properly torquing fasteners. At least, with a unique cappuccino racer, those problems will be within walking distance of home.

This forum is bizarre, that's not a complaint, just an observation.
I too like boobs.
So what happens here? someone asks a question and we avoid the answer?

There is an answer in Reply #4 and suggestions in Reply #9. What do you have to contribute, Ben?

I'm just here for the witty repartee. For the most part the people with the answers don't do cappuccino and the cafe people seem to ask the most questions. At least it's not as snob infested such as the BMWMOA.
