BMW 22 Liter Top Case SOLD

 I have a 22 liter K bike top case in very good condition includes a lock cylinder with key for sale. Attachment plate and locking pin is in very good condition also. Plate needs some foam tape. Fits the following BMW motorcycles:
K75
K100
K1100RS
K1100RT
F650 Funduro and ST
Post 1985 BMW Airheads, R65, R80 & R100 Series (not GS)

$200 plus shipping

Unfortunately, luck wasn't on my side as I was hunting for a used top case for my BMW K75. After failing to find a suitable one, I ended up ordering this top case (https://www.vikingbags.com/viking-challenger-leather-wrapped-hard-motorcycle-trunk) a few days ago and It's about to be delivered soon. But after seeing your post, I'm feeling a bit sorry because if I had waited a few more days, I would have chosen your top case for sure 177381.

No doubt about that delivery time; you live in the same city as Viking. You probably see it every day on your way to work. I'm surprised you didn't just buy it there. You might even qualify for a discount. :laughing4-giggles:

Somebody should grab this quick, I've seen the mounting plate alone go for almost that much.

FYI: I've epoxied rectangles of 5/8" blue closed cell camping pad foam to replace the factory foam on the mounting plate. Has worked well for me.

I used silicone adhesive on black Ensolite. I was going for a formal look.  :laughing4-giggles:

I reversed the hinges and put a hardware store clasp lock on it.

Due to the orientation of the OEM 22lt lid if the catch is not engaged properly the lid can fly open at speed. I've seen OEM strap supports bent when this happens and I've also seen repaired and modified strap supports after having this happen.  Sometimes the locking hook is only just hooking onto the lid catch and even after checking it can still release. In order to stop this I found that by placing a  lump of plasticine in the throat of the hook and then closing the lid you can determine if the catch is fully engaging. Mine wasn't and required adjustment. As an extra precaution I added shortened card table hinges on both sides of the lid. These were mounted to pieces of plastic cutting board which were drilled and tapped and counter sunk. The easiest way to make mounts is by drilling the plastic with a hole saw. These were then glued to the inside of the lid using J B weld epoxy for plastic. I did try various other glues that didn't hold. I still occasionally ride off with the lid not fully closed and have the lid fly up but nothing is now damaged.
