There's a really nice K1200RS down the road for sale, and I was looking at it. Great looking bike, 130hp! But one thing stood out to me - aluminum frame, 628lbs... wet.
My '92 K100RS is 538lbs... wet. Steel tube frame. I guess now I need to go look at the performance differences between the two...
Why the huge weight difference? I haven't ridden it, but that seems to be a big difference...
Just thinking out loud. I know, scary... :giggles

I have a "04 K1200GT. The same bike as the RS but with a little better weather protection. Heavy bike but does not ride like one. Lots of power through all gears. Absolutely the best brakes on a bike that I have ever ridden, but a major pain in the ass to bleed the brakes as they are servo assisted. Low center of gravity.These bikes sell pretty cheap as they are not all that popular. As any bike, it has to be tailored to the individual. I found the bars too low and the pegs too high. Easily remedied but expensive. I rode mine coast to coast without any issues. Get one. You won't regret it.
