Title: Caldera beach 2-18
Post by: Filmcamera on February 18, 2018, 11:39:55 AM
After last weekends trip to the Volcano with my wife I felt in need of a more spirited ride so I set off this morning to Caldera.  It is the closest beach to my house so there and back is about a 9 mile round trip.

I pushed her pretty hard today and it is very true that bricks like that.  I kept the revs between 4.5 and 7.5 all the time and had a blast doing it.  The bike does begin to run out of steam much above 110 mph but in the 50 - 90 mph range it pulls strongly.

Strange:my 1990 RS 16v keeps on pulling past (an indicated) 140mph.As an aside,lovely bike:looks like 1100RS fairing.

Yep it is a K1100RS fairing.

When I say run out of steam it is not that it stops accelerating, just that it does so slower and being that Costa Rica is a small, mountainous country with rubbish roads I run out of room to keep pushing.  The main place I have been able to get up to 110 mph is a straight of only a couple of miles, I think I would need to be able to stay in the throttle for at least a couple more miles to hit the 140 mark.

I do also think that at 125,000 plus miles, most of which were with little or no maintenance, the engine is a kinda tired.

I get what you are saying although I do not have the knowledge to appreciate the conditions. Here,in the UK,I find my bike keeps accelerating like a train to the red line,on well policed roads, taking me too easily to speeds that would result in losing my driving license.I do prefer the 1100RS fairing compared to the 100RS 16v.
