Something Someday K100RS
« on: August 25, 2022, 09:01:53 PM »
I'm currently building a 1991 K100RS into something.  Not sure what.  Leaning towards streetfighter.

I know I'm gonna replace the front with a S1000RR front end because my pile of parts came with it.

Stripped the engine down the other day and pulled the crank for ease of Cerakoting.

Didn't know that connecting rod bolts are hard to find so don't have too many options there.  Anyone know where to find PN: 11 24 1 460 344  Need 8 of them.

Other option would be get newer rods.  Though I don't know if that'd work out.  Anyone know if newer connecting rods will work?  Or another donor engine.

Did you ever find your bolts?

According to BMW, this part has been obsoleted (which is why you can't find them) and replaced with 11 24 1 460 384 - manufacturers do increment their parts when issues are found, they will obsolete the old part and replace with new.  I'd contact a BMW dealer to see if they can dig up that information, whether that's what's going on here or not.

Considering the *344 part is labeled as "obsolete" leads me to believe *384 is the replacement and therefore, compatible.  But again, the dealership parts dept should be able to confirm.  Best of luck!
