New K75 owner in Maryland
« on: May 16, 2023, 10:25:56 AM »
Hi all,

Just picked up my first BMW bike. I got a great deal at $2300.

I've put about 300 miles on the bike and its shockingly smooth and quiet.

The bike is a 1994 with 30,350 miles. I believe the color is 690 Silk Blue. Does that look right?

The only plans I have for the bike are a seat that's a bit lower, or maybe bars that are a bit higher.
I am not yet used to the "leaning forward" position.

Additionally, I'd like to add a fairing. Will the fairing from a K75C bolt right on? I feel it would visually add a balance to the bike that it's missing.
Parts don't seem too common on eBay. Wondering if it will be a big task finding a C fairing and windshield that's already silk blue.
Also would like to ditch the muffler in lieu of a simple looking stainless one. (any recs?)

Yes, I know the horns need painted, and roundel removed from the rear 112350

Cheers!

The fairing from a C will need a few mounting parts possibly available from a source like MaxBMW but you won't know for certain until you inquire. Haunt eBay and then paint what you find; a close color match is possible. The chance of finding that fairing already in Silk Blue are about the same as the chance of getting a tongue bath from a world-renown YouTube influencer in a booth at an Arby's during weekday lunch rush hour.

The most effective exhaust system for the Brick is the one that's on it now; the heat shield can be removed and the whole thing is capable of being made to gleam with some elbow grease and polish. Some members here have been gratified by owning a Staintune, Remus or Mac can, when they can be found.

I recall seeing horns like those on a pole dancer but I can't recall whether it was in Wrocław or Kraków.
You have found a slightly modified but excellent example of a Brick. Taller bars with more pullback are available but be certain they are 22mm—not 7/8"—for the easiest installation. Barbacks to move it rearward are out there, too.

Welcome to the site!

$2,300 for a 30K K75 is a good deal.

That looks like a factory solo seat. Kind of rare.

Color: Look under the seat on the tail cowl for the paint scheme code. Probably 690.

A C fairing will fit on that K75 but you'd need a different headlight, cluster mount and all of the K75C fairing bits.

You need part 1 of this diagram for cluster mounting.

Find a complete C fairing is difficult but not impossible.

K75C ended production in 1990 and Silk Blue on Ks came out after that so you will never find a factory painted C fairing in Silk Blue.

If you just want to get rid of chest blast then I'd recommend an aftermarket windscreen.

Just about all of the C fairing bits are available from a dealer except for 46632303117.

Welcome!

Wow, that is like winning the Powerball.  The C fairing never comes up on eBay.  I would move on it if I wanted one.  The price looks pretty good, too.

Wow, really insightful and great responses guys! It's awesome to see that I got a solid deal.

I saw that fairing on eBay and figured I'd hold out for silk blue, but I guess I'll be holding out for eternity!

Cool to know the seat is rare-ish. My fiancé would like me to get one a little better suited for riding 2-up than my current solo.
I just might grab that fairing. I will check locally with a couple BMW sources before I pull the trigger.

All you need now to make the riding position more comfortable is to do 50 crunches twice a day for the next month! 112350

Hi Jared,

I agree it looks unbalanced. I'm guessing the previous owner wanted that naked look by painting the radiator cowl black and removing the side panels. I'd want to bring the cowl back to blue and the horns back to black (but I'd keep the roundel) If you're lucky the previous owner might have the side panels. You might find stamped on the frame what it was originally, say maybe it was an RT or something.

It's definitely a good buy, but because the rear brake disc has been replaced, it's enough to make a bloke thinks, has it really only done 30,000 miles? A photo of the instrument cluster might be good.
