Simple seat clip upgrade
« on: March 12, 2023, 03:53:01 PM »

One annoying aspect of K ownership is the special BMW C-Clips uses for the seat. (Part 07129934318)
1 - They're small and like to get lost
2 - The one that goes on the rear hinge pin is a PITA to install.

Adding a 3x100 zip-tie makes them harder to lose and makes installing the rear one easy-peasy.

Any color zip-tie will do but I like neon green so they're extra hard to lose.

Once I had a Collie pup. Dug a hole and covered him up. Now I sit there by the hour. Waiting for a Collie-flower.

I drilled out my pins when I scored a couple of Oz Military hat and beret brass badge clips. I bent up a piece of wire to make removal easier, it is also used to remove tank clips. The tool and spare clips are sandwiched between Velcro under the seat. I got two bags of clips for $10.00 Au and gave one bag to a mate I think I have enough even if I lose a few.

I made up some prototype extended tank clips which  are a lot easier to remove and replace. The intention was to make them in stainless steel. It's on the back burner as I've yet to source thin enough stainless sheet.

I used to do this.  Then I bought a bike where a previous owner had done the zip-tie thing. Just a simple zip-tie makes it super easy because with the zip-tie tight so that the clip doesn't flop around you can just grab the zip-tie near the clip and push it right on.
