1987 Pearl White K100RS with 1,532 miles

I've been casually looking for the right one then this popped up and I couldn't resist. Just in time for the rain season in Western Oregon.

I’m told this bike sat in the original owner's living room in Nebraska. A neighbor took on some resurrecting maintenance. New fluids, battery, and gas tank. Then I bought it and shipped it to Oregon. New tires and fluids again. It ran well down I-5 last night between Salem and Eugene. The engine heats up and cools down just fine. High RPMs will be avoided until there's another few hundred miles and another fluid change in there. There's some weeping from the front weep hole, but not enough to seriously drip. Best to put some miles on the thing before any more work is done. There's also several coats of Liquid Glass on the Pearl White. It really brings out the colors inside that Pearl. How do y'all recommend taking care of that coating?

The funny thing is this bike came with its original Michelin A48 and M48 tires. 30 years old. All of the tread was still there and the rubber was still soft without cracks. I also went into the handlebar mounts to see the condition of the rubber bushings. Again, that rubber looked and felt great. This should hopefully be a good sign that fuel lines and other rubber bits may still be in good knick. I guess the bike really did live in a living room.

My bike had those Michelins when new, followed highway grooves so bad I pulled off road thinking I had a flat. Still have original coolant hoses on bike, they’re made out of some kind of magical non aging rubber.

The rear brake disc seems excessively scored for ≈1500 miles. What is the make and model of the front and rear tires?

Liquid Glass was a paint polish. Reapplying it periodically was how the look was maintained. The company is defunct. There's plenty of information about it on the Web.

Might be some of the toning in the photograph bringing out extra detail. The mileage is verified.

The tires that came off were Michelin A48 and M48. I just put on Shinkos in the photographs you see.

I've searched liquid glass and yes Google has stuff everywhere but it's not as great a resource as it once was. If I can add new content to sites like motobrick, that's always ideal.

I was wondering about that too.  It's in super good nick, so we're splitting hairs, but  the tyres might have a date on them, like modern ones do.

Yea good question. I tried finding a date on the tires, and there were a bunch of numbers on 'em, but I couldn't find any in the week-year 4 digit arrangement like we're used too. Google tells me the A48 and M48 haven't been made in a long time. I'm assuming they're from the 90s at the latest.

Probably original equipment on the bike, can't imagine anyone actually buying those.  When I replaced the OE Michelins on my "87 with Metzlers it transformed the bike in a very good way.

You're not supposed to like cheap tires.  Even if they are good.

Jim, I had a set of Shinkos and they were fine. Then I ordered another set and it turned out that the front tire was wonky....out of round slightly. That was that. Went to Metzeler for Heinz.
