coming back from the dark side?
« on: May 28, 2017, 05:39:24 PM »
Well partially. I went over and purchased a Honda NC700x last year. I'm enjoying it but missed my K75, and would like a bit more power.  I'm always on the lookout and found a "99 R1100R for a VERY reasonable price.I like the naked look, and it has a screen.  The original owner says it needs a battery and the  brake lever is sticking as it has been sitting Since September. . He was starting it up   I asked if the brake is locking up, but he says no. I know it isn't a K, but it is an 1100 and should be quicker than the Honda. Maybe just a rebuild of the Master cyl? I know some forum members have R's too, so I was looking for some enablers.Or naysayers. I may go for a look tomorrow [will be bringing a batt, I hear they are under the tank. My Honda's behind 2 screws in the frunk.]

Hello Beemuker
I have a 97 R110R, it had a sticky stiff front brake that ended up being blocked brake lines. Replace lines and flushed fluid now all good. Not as nice to ride as my K100RS but still a nice bike to ride.

I've been having embarrassing breakdowns recently due to piddly little problems with my old K75C during group rides, which has gotten me to lusting after something shiny and new like the NC 750 X.... but every time I put the K75 up for sale I pull the ad in less than a day, bite the bullet and pay for the repair. Signs of severe addiction.

To me, R's are a totally different beast than K's.  But it's still probably got more character than the Honda.

I got the R1100R running, and yes, it is a different bike. Rebuilt the front master cyl, new battery, flushed the tank, replaced some worn wires., speedo cable and boss. Buzzier but more powerful than the 75. . I only want to keep one ,  so I gotta decide which one to sell. The BMW has way more power, better brakes, a plusher ride. The Honda is easier to maneuver and has the frunk, and is much newer so it will probably require much less maintenance [except the chain].It has 8k, the BMW 21K.  I need to ride them both more, but with a tropical storm sitting in the gulf, we have had steady rain for what seems forever.

I have a 95 R1100RS.

It's my main ride - I haven't fixed the brick yet.
