Gauge cluster replacement
« on: May 26, 2017, 01:29:40 AM »
i was thinking.... (all bad ideas start this way)

Has anyone tried to take the electronics out of the stock speedobox (1985 k100) and place them into a smaller "box". And use the wires that go to the stock "gauges" and lights to run to a after market speedo and tack

Basically take the stock box apart.. determine what wire does what, build a little box, mount hidden and run the wires from the electronics to the new gauges.

Seems like a pretty easy way to swap...  just isolate what wore does what inside he box and run them to the new cluster... saving all the complicated diodes, new boards, relays etc.

Anyone tried this?

I wept because I had no radials until I met a man who had no splines.
