K100RS on C-List... Good Fixer-Upper?
« on: April 04, 2017, 11:07:58 PM »
Figured I'd share...

"BMW K100RS 1988 bike sold AS IS. Broken front faring. Gas tank has hairline crack at mounting point and transmission rear seal leaks. Engine turns over. Great project for someone who likes to restore. Pickup in South Charlotte off Sardis Rd."

For someone wanting to do a restore or a cafe or something... Broken front fairing? Meh. Transmission real seal leak? $5 says it's the clutch rod boot.

I'd love to get my hands on a K100RS Special Edition, but $1750 for that bike is at least $750 more than it's worth.   Low mileage is nice, but I wonder what the inside of the tank looks like.

Main fairing can't be repaired.  I like how none of the photos show how bad it is.  I am guessing something heavy fell on it in the garage.  Heck, the right mirror is still there.

A sister ship in excellent condition recently sold for $1800 US in Canada a couple weeks ago.  This bike is grossly overpriced.  I suspect it will shortly become a cappuccino racer.
