the plan was the sequoia and kings canyon then hetchy hetch... but the chance early morning ice in sequoia and with the road to kings canyon closed by snow... we rolled out of tulare ca to new roads to us and to meet up with don hopkirk to motoescort us around the area...

mickis favorite donkey resides on the northwest corner of avenue 240 and j15 in tulare...

then off to dry creek road to start our adventure through the sierra foothills...

then up the 245...

to dunlap road...

we stopped to visit with the locals...

then onto elwood road...

then onto trimmer springs road......

then onto maxon road...

and watts road and tollhouse road...

we met up with don hopkirk at the tollhouse market and headed to humphery station for lunch...

where old thunderbirds rule...

motos are dropped...

and burgers are consumed...

then we follow don hopkirk to who knows where...

don hopkirk passed this moto on the outside in the previous corner... so we braked late and passed him on the inside... no handed even... i looked in my mirror and saw his helmet spinning on his head... squids... go figure...

not good road shots... but you get the idea...

rolling to north fork...

the center of california...

it was truly spectacular... but little did we know... it was gonna get better... the san joaquin river...

the view from the mile high curve...

snow covered the road to the view point... we stopped beside the road to take it all in... this place rivals hurricane ridge and other high altitude lookouts that we have visited... cant quite put it into words... and our little digicam cant capture the awe of this place... impressive...

our digicam battery is tired... no more photos... we followed don hopkirk to oakhurst... he split off to go home and get working on his honeydoo list... we split off and rode up to the yosemite area then returned to oakhusts for the night...

me n eds italian pizza... it was good...

the sun rises on the bugeye motobrick... ready to roll out of oakhurst... check out that rick mayer seat...  that thing is the ch1t...

the plan is hetchy hetch... the route... ca 49... the little dragon...

the old priest grade... up we go... 2nd gear...

rolling on the ca 120...

hetchy hetch via evergreen...

too bad john muir didnt win this fight... just trying to get the vision of this place back during his time...

we took out of there on cherry lake road... man o man... thats is one nice piece of asphalt with zero traffic... wow...

riding the little dragon... heading back to tulare...

dead digicam battery...

well... we saved up for one last photo... happy burger in mariposa...

then we were filling up with chevron techron supreme and who shows up... don hopkirk and his honey... crazy aint it...

thanks don hopkirk for showing us the way... looking forward to next time...

no tresp1ssi1g...
