very nice design and paint work.  I love the carbon fiber hydrographics on the radiator cowl.

I've seen a few bikes with those triangular bags and I'm always jealous.  I can't sew.  Somebody make and sell these!   :)

This is the only one I've come across for Kbikes. Pricey though!

Thanks James. The tank is complete now with 3 clear coats. My only dilemma is which gas cap to use. I also sanded down the original cap and gave it a brushed aluminum finish. The black one give it a little bit of a contrast while the original one blend in.

I think the all brushed aluminum tank had a certain Cuisinart toaster look—attractive to high-value foodies but not particularly Furious Fist-like. :yes

Hey Bud,

Both filler cap options look great, I do tend to lean towards the brushed original.

Loving you work.

Motobrickers,

I have embarked on a new project. This time, it's an Airhead. I've always wanted one and have been searching for over a year now. I stumbled onto this one thru the same fella that sold me the K75. A neighbor of his is an eclectic Airhead collector. He bought a bunch of old Airheads to add to his motorcycle rental fleet. Come to find out, he couldn't get rental insurance for them. Long story short, he sold me this gem for $1800 (he took a loss of ~$1600). It's an 1981 R65 with ~55k miles. It's a clean and mechanically sound bike. This time around, I'm not going to chop it up. The modifications I'm going to do will be completely reversible. I've convinced the wife and kids to let me keep the K75 as I couldn't imagine to part way with it.

P.S. I have not found an Airhead forum as good as this one. If there's a good one out there, let me know.

That seems both dire and pitiful, if true. :giggles

Have you tried this one? http://vintagebmw.org/v7/forum/176

Or this? http://advrider.com/index.php?forums/airheads.85/

Snowbum recommends this one. http://www.airheads.org/forum/technical-discussions

You should be using Snowbum's technical pages anyway.  http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/technical-articles-list.htm

Thanks Laitch. I'm on the advrider.com and boxerworks.com sites. I've gotten wiring schematics off cycletech site. I was looking for a forum where members post their custom projects.

When it comes to classic airheads, customizers of them might become desaparecidos unless they're on a generic customizer forum, or so it appears anyway.

Yea, I suspected that. These Airhead purists on these forums aren't as nice and accepting as you Laitch.  :dunno
