K1100LT year 1993 Cafe Project, PLEASE HELP A ROOKIE OUT

Hey there all K-series fans.

I just got myself a K1100LT.And my plan is to make it a cafe racer style.But my problems start with changing the handlebars to strap-ons.
Soo the question is:"Does someone know what size strap-ons to fit on my '93 K1100LT?"

More questions:
"Can i replace original wheels with,let's say K100 wheels?"
"Where the hell i can find controller switches to fit handlebar and still have choke button on them?"(not chinese sh*t)

Post a picture of your bike in this thread so we can watch what you do to it, or what it does to you. Use your 1100 rims if they are in good condition.

I used an '02 Kawasaki ZZR1200  control cluster for the clutch side that had a built in choke lever. I had to  shorten the cable and solder a new end on it but it works fine. you can look at my thread for the project  here : http://www.motobrick.com/index.php/topic,8675.msg68487.html#msg68487

Most people go to the K1100 tire from the K100 because the K1100 tire is fatter, rather than the other way around.

Well, couple of general points..........maybe you don't want to use 41mm clip-ones for all that LT weight, consider RS bars. Don't go to K100 rims because they are a more narrow width........many folks have gone to great effort to put 1100 forks on K100 bikes, you want the wider 1100 wheel, just over-size the rubber a bit front & back.Remember, the choke isn't anything but a throttle advance, it's not a carburetor being choked.And finally, have you delved into the Liebrary archives on each topic you've asked? Tremendous amount of " Been there, Done that", so go do your research. You ain't the first to grapple these weighty issues! POST PICTURES!

I'll just add that with the 1100 wheels, the stock RS rear rim is wider than the LT rear.
Stock Rim sizes LT:
front 2.5 x 18
rear 3.0 x 17

Stock Rim sizes RS:
front 3.5 x 17
rear 4.5 x 18

Lol I'm sensing a theme here of keeping the 1100 wheels :-). If you do want to switch to K100 wheels there are a couple things to consider. The thinner k100 wheels limit you somewhat with choice of tires. ( not a huge deal most of us find a tire brand we like and stick with it). Also you will need to fabricate some spacers for the axel and brake calipers to compensate for width, or just run the wheel a little off center. I have seen several k100s that put 1100 rear wheel on and just used longer lug bolts and run them off center a little with not much problem. But the front would have to pick up that slack with a spacer on the axel and the calipers. It's not a huge problem but something to consider.  Some people like the thinner wheel look to get that more "retro" style. Personally I'd love to get wire spoke wheels made for my K100 but it would cost me more than I have spent on the total project.
