interesting....a bmw dealer is selling it, but they don't even bother to replace the turn signal lens?  or clear the abs light?  they have all the expertise and parts to make it a lot more attractive with a minimal investment, yet didn't.

But replaced the tires, illogical!

I personally have known dealers who would not 're-sell a trade unless a full safety check of brakes, etc. And fresh fluids, tires, etc. If a BMW dealer is flipping back a BMW without correcting minor cosmetics, I take that as a cue than something more serious lurks. How come the BMW Auto Certified car program isn't applied to BMW motorcycles?  You have to accept the risk you take buying a bike labeled "project" by a big dealer, no different except in overpricing, than buying from any unverified private seller.

At least they're upfront about everything.  It is a 20 year old bike and roadworthy by their description. Most dealers would wholesale it. Sinking much more money into it could eliminate their profit margin. I doubt they have the lens in stock or that the ABS is an easy fix.  I remember test driving a newish VW at a respectable  VW-BMW-Volvo dealer and they didn't even bother to empty the ash try, and swore the bald tires had another 20,000 miles on them.

Like I said, the dealer would put money in it if there was any margin to be made. The wholesale motorcycle market is regional at best, and wouldn't want an old K. He's dumping it for $500 more than he gave in trade. So a $20 lens is out of the question. Some K Boy will want it enough to take it as is. He made his profit out of the new bike margin, this is just "customer disposal service". Remember that next time you beat down a dealership on a Brick. They are dying to get rid of them.

I am looking at selling an 02 R1150RT and getting a k1100rs...

Alas, foiled again.

I have to find a local K1100rs and sit on it here in Southern Wisconsin before I buy a k1100 long distance to make sure it fits.

The last 2 beemers I bought, I  found online and flew out and rode them back...

It's nice in Vermont this time of year. You could ride back on this.

Blasphemy time, but I am looking at a 650 V-strom.

Anyone want to try to talk me back into a K1100rs? Red, of course, near Southern Cowconsin.

Nobody would doubt that, although some models resemble a Picasso rendering of a finch at roost. You ought to honor it by using it as your avatar.

Sorry but I agree with Laitch -- that's probably a fantastic machine but I think the folks that designed it watched too much 'Transformers'.

Maybe it's a generational thing. I just got my K75 back on the road after six weeks on the lift and when I ride it a lot of the enjoyment comes from the knowledge what a great-looking bike it is. It still gets a lot of looks -- unlike me.
