todays breakfast ride..indian head, MD area.  two K75's and a K1200GT

left at 0600.

first stop Marshall Hall boat ramp on the Potomac.

then about 60 miles of two lane through forests and parks.  got to Fort Washington Park around 0820

and this is September 11th.  we were there for the hoisting and half masting of the national flag over the fort at 0846..time the first plane hit the WTC.

what a beautiful day!  view from gun enplacments over the Potomac River.

great morning to remember those lost in that senseless attack.

Decided we needed fresh scones for breakfast this morning. ...from this place.

Of course, it is 100 miles away.   So four of us went there,  via skyline dr.

135 miles later and a bunch of twisties,  we got there.    Yup,  the scones were yummy!

210 mile round trip on a nice 60deg day.  Home by noon.

haven't been on the brick for a month due to biz travel (belated hello to the Kiwi's...didn't see any bricks in wellington).

so..took to the road this brisk fall morning to great falls national park.  beautiful day.   45deg, leaves in full color, with so many falling it was like snow.

then stopped by our local "cars and coffee" event down the street.  interesting old honda was trailered in.  tires were so old and cracked i can see why it was trailered..

was good to get out for a few hours!

this Sunday mornings ride was the "Chilly Ferry Tour".

it was 31deg F when i rolled out at 0730, hence the "chilly"

Ride went up the MD side of the Potomac River, stopping at old ferry crossings along the way.  Much of ride was on 1-1.5 lane wide winding roads along the C&O Towpath through estates, farms and woods.  Spectacular views for a fall day.

first stop, Edwards Ferry Landing.

next stop, Whites Ferry.  This ferry is actually still in use.  runs on a cable back and forth across the river.

then further north to Point of Rocks, MD.

then crossed over the Potomac and came back down the Virginia side.

Had to stop at the Virginia side of the Whites Ferry!

then back home.   4hrs of quality time on the Brick.

I gotta figure out why my 'Droid take such crappy pics.....

Beautiful, thanks for sharing.

Say, you should put a plug in the open end of your center stand. Water can pool in there and rust out the stand from the inside. Then the bike falls over at the worst possible time and place (usually landing on your wife's car).

+1 Bill but fill the stand with rust convertor first, and then use something like LPS corrosion inhibitor.

It is cliche to say that I jumped on my Brick and rode Highway 1 from Los Angeles to San Francisco?

Went to Mortons BMW...50 miles south of DC.    But it was a nice day, so it took me 143miles to get there.  Went via two lane east in MD to Cobb island, over 301 bridge, and more VA two lane to Fredricksburg.   Ride started at 41deg, ended at 70deg.

After a couple of weeks of road-melting heat, yesterday morning was cool and fresh and begging for some riding to be done.  One of the attached pictures is taken on a little road out the back of Ardlethan somewhere, so untravelled you could stop in the middle of the road, take photos (and a quick pee) without anyone coming along.  The other was taken while stopped for a drink in Grong Grong, one of those little hamlets that the main highway skirts around but few people actually go into.

wx sucked (50 and on and off drizzle), but had to get out for a bit.  Brick still disabled while final drive splines get rebuilt, so took the other "K" for a spin to Annapolis.
