Broke-in the new Shinko 230's today. They seem fine. 38psi rear, 36psi front. 100 miles of farm country with a fair amount of twisties.

Saw this neat old boxer sidecar rig in front of an antique store in Centralia, WA.

didnt come all this way to fail tech for being too lite... or to be snowed out...

more later...

j o

awe ch1t... they are telling me i caint race with the iconic 22 liter on there...

nothing in the rules... says no downforce generating wings... they are saying the iconic 22 liter is an aero piece...

this aint over...

more later...

j o

didnt qualify so good... i had road tiors and with the snow the track gotts sloppy... the rest of these folks trailored their motos and had a selection of tiors... im the only one who rode mine... had to run what i brung...

had to take off  my lights off plus the iconic 22 liter and tragkorbs to satisfy tech... that and being twice the weight of the other motos...

by my heat time the track had dried out so i had some grip... ended up winning my heat...

during the race my drive shaft broke a u joint on the last lap... unfortunately i went from 1st to last in a half lap...

the woes of motobrick racing... how fast you wanna go... how much motobrick did you bring... i brought the whole f-ing thing...

Just got back from a few days of riding in mountains around asheville, nc.    Lots of twisties and 15mph switchbacks.  Yee ha!  In the rain.  Didn't matter,  was fun anyway!

Was there with bmwcca for vintage car show at hot springs resort.  500 cars and 4 bikes.

Part of the event was trip to the bmwcca foundation museum.   They had this on display.  An actual K1 that had not been hacked up into a cafe poseur!  Cool!

I stood next to it for 10 minutes waiting for a break,  but they were on to me.  Watching me like a hawk.  Could have been because I was standing there in full gear with a helmet in my hand. ..

Rode all the way around the Olympic Peninsula today to escape the 96F heat that came to town.

Hit the road at about 11am. Got home about 7pm.

Stopped at a beach and got some sun for a half hour or so.

Stopped for a beer and clam chowder at the pub in the creepy Stepford Wives town of Seabrook, WA. The town is only ten years old but it's impeccably designed to resemble an old New England village right down to the plants hanging on porches and the texture of the sidewalks. It's like they transplanted the "Murder She Wrote" film set to a hill in WA.

Dinner at Turnip the Beet in Port Angeles. I love that place. The website makes it look fancy but it's really a dive with really good, yet simple food.

Got stopped by a state trooper while passing my way through a long line of slowpokes on the 101 near Hoodsport, WA. Clocked me doing 70 in a 45 but that's cause I had just passed somebody who sped-up as I was passing them. He let me off with a warning after making small talk, probably to check if I was sober.

Was a good ride. Mostly in the upper 70's near the ocean and low 80's further inland. Better than 96 back home!

you are in violation of dot regulations by having solid red sticker on the side of your moto without have the front being white...

Took a ride over to the Western Slope Vintage MC show Saturday and parked the K100/EML rig out for all to see.

Nice ride back home also.

I met up with WigWam and his freshly overhauled K for a late breakfast in Olympia, then up to the frigidly wet and overcast Windy Ridge lookout at Mt St Helens, then into Mt Rainier National Park east of Packwood, and finally wrapping up with burgers at Whittaker's Bunkhouse in Ashford, WA.

It was a great ride, made even better with the outstanding direction from Tim Tyler.  For 16 years I've lived within 1 1/2 hours of Mt. Rainier, yesterday was the first time visiting the park.  Beautiful views, horrible roads; I nearly lost my teeth on the pool sized potholes.

The ride with Tim was a "shakedown cruise" for my recently overhauled 1985 K100RS, and she did well, except for an apparent leak from the speed sensor; I suspect the O-ring.

Over the winter I did the following;
rebuilt front and rear master cylinders, replaced left/right perches, throttle and clutch cables, replaced all hoses, dropped the entire oil pan, cleaned it, soda blasted years of neglected funk, and thoroughly cleaned oil pick up, rebuilt the throttle bodies, replaced the rubber on top and bottom of the TBs, cleaned and lubed the spline, and FD.  Finally, replaced the Luftmeister exhaust, installed by PO with an OEM exhaust, polished the exhaust ports.

Photos reveal a '93 K1100RS fairing. My bike affectionately known as Fräulein Beemer, was Alaskablau.  I re-sprayed the tank and rear fairing and mirrors to match the acquired front fairing and belly pan.  66AutoColor provided the color code matched paint, 2K primer and clear, highly recommended.

Time to ride now!

Went to Moscow Friday !  First long ride with Patches 500 km Friday and another 500+ on Saturday after an overnight in Ottawa.  Had so much fun on the twisties from Tweed to Verona I missed my turn and had to do it again in the other direction !  Saturday found more back roads through Bonnecherre, Killaloe and then on to Barry's Bay.  After a slow tour through Algonquin Park [60km] a lunch break in Dorset a spirited ride down 35 to Minden and home to Sutton !

Took off from Los Angeles through Balcom Canyon to Santa Paula to Ojai via the back way (Highway 150.)  Then up Highway 33 to Wheeler Gorge.  Turned around and came back home via PCH from Oxnard to Santa Monica.  Good shakedown ride.
